NFL  > New York Giants  > Can U Say Nasty-D?
March 1, 2009, 06:16 PM
Osi, Kiwi, Tuck, Coffield, Bernard and now Canty....whoooohooo this D-Line is going to be Scary. I feel bad for QB's in the NFC this year. Robbins is going to get cut ...his injuries must be more than know for Reese to go so hard after the DL's.

One more stud LB in the draft and our front 7 is going to cause some serious havoc this season!!

Nice one Reese!

A whole D-Line worth 100 million is always better than one man worth 100 Million... Jerry Reese bitched slapped Dan Snyder HARD!!!

March 4, 2009  11:31 AM ET

Yeah, the Giants are going to have a nasty defense this year... makes me nervous... lol

March 4, 2009  12:02 PM ET

Beware - They just got DL Rocky Bernard from Seattle. He was not necessarily a top run stopper at tackle. It's why Seattle went a different direction. Hope doesn't end up burning the Giants if/when he plays.

TubToy - Although I agree with you 100%, the situation that the Giants have brought him into this year is different than he was in at Seattle - He will be in a rotation with several other d-linemen. This is part of what made the giants' d so strong in 07 (DE rotation).

I think that even if he wasn't perfectly consistent in Seattle (but mostly solid) - He'll be better off here because he's getting paid starting money and he doesn???t have to play complete games.

That's the other reason why Reese did such a better job (than Snyder ??? re sam_nyg comment) in solidifying his D - Haynesworth doesn???t play complete games - He physically can't do it. Yeah, he's great when he's in there, but I'd take a very strong rotation that is fresh all game long vs. a single player that dominates (2/3 of the time) any day - it's a better "team" situation and it???s inline with the Giants??? philosophy that led them to a Super Bowl win vs. the ???greatest team in the history of the NFL???.

Now just get a good qb and you might not choke this year...

But like always...Im sure non of the NFL teams will be scared of the lil giants...

Yea but there offense stinks..no worries...with Eli out there I think all the teams are good...Id currently be more worried about McNabb then mediocre Eli..

Im not so sure about that...but its good to have that spirit!

Giants had a great 2 years. They might need more then a good DL this year. Time well tell

March 4, 2009  01:59 PM ET

I think the giants overpayed for Canty. In no universe is Canty better than Justin Tuck and Osi.
The guy averages 3 sacks pers season. Ours DT's usually double that in a good season. For those who say he can play DT, do we really need him to?
I think Robbins , Cofield are great and I don't know much about Rocky Bernard, but they seem to have given him starter money. I'd rather have a cushion with the cap space than Canty.

True... the offense does need work. They are in desperate need of a big-time receiver like Plax.

Really..Knocking Eli, when Cowboys are stuck with Tony Romo? Who's won in the playoffs? Who actually made the playoffs last season? Which QB won a NFC Championship in Lambeau in January? Which QB went down the feild in the Superbowlwith 2 minutes left to win? Mcnabb? Romo? Campbell?... Best QB in the NFC East is Eli Manning.. Proved it the last 2 seasons.. Mcnabb ****..Romo is a CHOKER..Campbell...Well, How many playbooks has he had to study? A Honest NFL fan had to put 100 million on a QB in the NFC East, It's Eli Manning. He's proved it, done it, Most Confident!!!

Whoa, whoa, chill there buddy... lol we only said that the Giants offense was fair. As it is. We didn't compare Romo with Manning... Manning shows brilliance at certain times but otherwise he's only ok. See his late-season slump without Plax...

Didn't say Romo was the next great thing. Didn't say Manning was either. It's ok when somebody disagrees with you... lol.

March 4, 2009  03:15 PM ET

Besides, if I really wanted to get into that discussion I could talk about how Romo missed 3 games this year and still threw for 3448 yards as opposed to Manning's 3238, or how he threw for 26 touchdowns while Eli managed 23 in a full season...

But let's not get into that, shall we? Let's be friends instead.

;)

What was the Cowboys record again? And the Giants? Yea, thought so. Oh also, Eli has a ring and Romo...oh well he choked....again.

You're not one to be talking about choking. Your Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in what? 13 years?

March 4, 2009  03:46 PM ET

I'm not going to turn into ATR here, but we were talking about the quarterbacks, not the teams as a whole...

lol
