NHL  > General NHL  > Acquisition of Montador and Recchi pushes Bruins over the top
March 4, 2009, 04:38 PM
With the Bruins trading for Steve Montador and Mark Recchi, this definitely pushes them over the top as Cup contenders. Both guys add a veteran presence to an already strong core. Not only that but they are both upgrades over the players who left. Granted Nokkelainen, Lashoff, and Karsums had limited exposure to the NHL level but their numbers left something to be desired. Now we get a seasoned veteran in Recchi who can score but isn't going to be expected to carry the load. And Montador bolsters an already solid defense.
