Posada, who in the past has never had many problems with injuries in his career, is coming off a season in which he played in only 51 games. His presence alone in the clubhouse and behind the plate is his most important value to the team. At this point in his career it doesn???t really matter what he hits as long as he can throw out base runners at a clip above the MLB average and control this talented pitching staff. If he is hurt or just burns out this puts the Yanks in a tough spot. Posada along with Jeter and MO are the heart and soul of this team???
