certainly a step back for the bungles. and carson just needs to worry about getting himself back on the field and spend less time worrying about who's going to be on it
I think that if Carson is going to the board to ask for a player, it shows a lot of initiative on his part in being the team captain that he is. I don't know if it will be a step back or not but we will definitely find out. Laveranues is younger and more experienced than T.J. He has just been plagued by injuries. But after 631 catches for over 8,000 yds and 44 td's last season it will be interesting to see what he will bring to the team.

oops my bad!
The signing of Coles is a breath of fresh air for long suffering Bengals fans. It finally shows the front office is serious about spending some money on a quality free agent. It's refreshing to see this team finally try to reload after losing a free agent instead of promoting someone from the scout team or signing someone well past their prime.
Irony lives ....
After GAINING Houshmanzadeh, we LOST Maurice Morris to Detroit
ay bengals fans- what ever happened to RB Kenny Irons???

Well after he got hurt in 07, he was making a comeback, but the Bengals but him on the injured reserve list, he was subsequently let go and is now a free agent.
Great short-term pickup considering that we have Chris Henry and some young guns waiting in the wings. Let's not forget that the salary cap space made room for some stellar defensive pick-ups!
Well the folks at Sporting News think it's a good move

I'm not so sure. Looking at the stats he's a downgrade. He finished last year with 70 catches and the year before with 55. 70 is pretty good but not great and 55 is the same as Ochocinco in his worst season. TJ and Ocho at their best were good for 80-100 catches and 1000 yards+. Coles has a few 90 catch 1000 yard seasons but not with the same frequency as those two.
Coles has been pretty worthless so far, hasn't he? I know it's early in the season but he's been very disappointing.
Right, Coles has been doing as well as Coats. Who if you don't know dropped like, 10 passes so far. Andre Caldwell has been the best deal we got so far.

I would expect Coats, who has a job thanks to injuries, to not be that great. Coles, on the other hand, cost quite a bit for his non-catches.

Yeah, guess you're right.
