The KC Star is reporting that the Yankees might be interested in Mark Teahen to fill in for A-Rod. Teahen is only 27 years old and has shown an ability to play a variety of positions. Teahen's best position is third base, but the Royals have Alex Gordon to play third.

The Royals biggest need comes at second base and speculation is that the Royals may ask for Robinson Cano in exchange for Teahen and a prospect. Cano and Teahen had similar numbers in 08.

Also, second baseman Mark Grudzielanek is still a free agent. Grudzielanek hit .299, 3 HRs and 24 doubles in 86 games in 2008. He's 38 years old, but is a gold glove second baseman that hits for average and is a leader in the clubhouse.
Cano recently signed a long term contract, but with A-Rod out and their future at 3B in question, Teahen could be a long term solution at third. Teahen is most productive when playing third and he hasn't been given that opportunity in quite sometime. This trade would be good for him and the Yankees. What do you guys think? Would you like a trade that involves Teahen & a prospect for Cano? Would you be happy with Grudzielanek at 2B?

As for the Royals, this gives them a long term solution at 2B and allows them to keep Ross Gload on the roster in a utility role. Also, if the Yankees sign Grudzielanek, the Royals will get a supplemental draft pick, which will help since they just surrendered their 2nd rounder for releiver Juan Cruz. That's the latest rumor.
