NFL  > Carolina Panthers  > Cutler and a 1st round pick for Peppers and Lucas
March 11, 2009, 03:43 AM
Why dont the Panthers trade Peppers and Lucas to the Broncos for Cutler and a 1st round pick then we will have a qb for the future and someone to build around and get a 1 round pick out of it to get another qb if cutler dont work out or get a safty in the 1st round

That could work great for Carolina, they would have to get a serious pass rusher in the draft.

If the Panthers do trade Peppers for any sort of pick they have to look at defensive end. The system the new Defensive Coordinator is talking about putting in place is supposedly going to be more suited to the DBs that are currently starting, but still requires pressure from the D Line. That would be missing without Peppers, and John Fox's visit to Georgia Techs Pro Day workout shows the front office might be thinking that way.

you sure the salaries would work? Both peppers and lucas get payed a lot!

I would say trade Peppers and Delohmme(If they would take him) for Cutler and a 1st or 2nd round pick. We might could trade up our pick to get into the bottom of the 1st round and pick up the Johnson from Georgia Tech that looked pretty good. I myself though am not as badly concerned because Charles Johnson looked pretty good in limited play time.

Haha are you serious??? We'd get two old players and one who just had tommy john surgery for a QB of the future and then two good draft picks. We're trying to rebuild if you hadn't heard... I don't think giving up two young draft studs for two guys who might not work out. I'll stick with Cutler thank you. nice try though ;)

Peppers and Lucas, neither one of those guys are worth a first round draft choice. We already have a seconday. Peppers is over paid. If anything it would be Peppers, Delhome, and your 3 rounder for Cutler and a 2nd rounder.

McD isnt about paying high end players worth a ton of money, him and xanders both believe in picking up players that are second tier and letting them battle it out. This trade is redick.

Sounds like a good deal to me Pow. Peppers, Delhomme and a 3rd rounder for Cutler and a 2ns rounder.

March 12, 2009  06:10 PM ET

that sounds like the worst deal either team can make. carolina would get a qb they dont really need. culter is way too needy. jake delhomme is fine! last year he played great. and for the broncos to trade their qb of the future and a good 1st pick for them too? they would have to be out of their minds!

March 12, 2009  09:46 PM ET

Yea....I agree with getting Cutler but you also need to sign Jason Taylor

March 13, 2009  02:13 AM ET

Hey why don't the Panthers trade Peppers, DeAngelo Williams, and Jordan Gross to the 49ers for Micheal Robinson, Barry Sims, and a second round pick this year and next. You want a saftey I'll throw in Mark Roman and take out the second round pick in next years draft.

Sounds stupid huh? Well it has just as much chance of happening as your deal!

Peppers for Cutler! AMEN!!!!

Peppers for Cutler. AMEN!!!!!!!

Let's sweeten the deal to Denver: Pepper, Delhomme, and Ken Lucas for Cutler and a First Round Pick. Then Sign Jason Taylor and Tory Holt with the Cap Money saved. And Teams move forward!

Let them have Jake as well.

How do the Panthers include Lucas in a deal when they have already released him?

March 20, 2009  12:29 AM ET

Your right....Missed the release on Lucas so throw in Jarett to seal the deal and give a former 1st rounder a new start!
