NCAAB  > North Carolina Tar Heels  > Willie Cooper, the quiet story of the 1st African American player at UNC-CH
March 15, 2009, 10:30 AM
The Charlotte Observer published a great sports story about a guy most of us have not heard about. Cooper started his career at UNC two years before the more famous Charlie Scott. Cooper was more interested in obtaining a business degree than basketball and dropped of the team to concentrate on his studies. Cooper graduated on time and went on to a long career at IBM.
