NFL  > New York Giants  > Giants WR Issues

Saying the Giants face a pickle at WR is nothing short of reality. Truth be told, even if they get Plax back, they should get a guy now to be able to take over Plax's role in a year, or two, mainly because it look like Steve Smith will be a 2nd receiver, and Manningham's future is still in question, Sinorice is just too small and Dixon doesn't seem to be able to do anything other than run fly routes.

Trading up for Heyward-Bey would be a huge mistake. Sure the guy runs 4.3, but he did nothing in college, and the only reason he is being mentioned in the first round is because of that and his size. What NFL receiver that did nothing in college and was fast, ever did anything in the NFL? He should be a 2nd rounder.

Donnie Avery did not go until the 2nd round last year, nor did Eddie Royal, and we know that Ted Ginn was a reach for the Fins when he was drafted, and he can return kicks. Alot of people thought he should have been a 2nd rounder that year.

Amani Toomer was a 2nd rounder, and let's not forget Thomas Lewis first rounder out of Indiana in 1994...

If they don't move up, or even if they do, and manage to keep a high 2nd rounder, Hakeem Nicks is the guy to draft, and the route-running can be coached, and Boldin has shown speed is not the only thing that matters at their positions as a pro. Nicks managed a 4.5 @ the combine, compared to Boldin's 4.71 @ the combine and a 4.59 during FSU's pro-day in 2003.

If they trade up they should go for Maclin or Crabtree. Maclin reminds me of Marvin Harrison coming out of college and Crabtree makes me think of T.O. without the attitude, though that could change as he becomes a pro, of course. They should stay away from Percy Harvin.

i agree i think crabtree is the way to go. but we have alot of young receivers so i think trading for a veteran and getting ( dare I say) yet another receiver in the second round is the way to go. b edwards or a boldin or even a johnson I think can be gotten at the right price with all the draft picks we have

How about K B. This guy can handle the balck and blue division probably better than any one else in this draft. When it comes time to win the game the Giants rely on grit and determination, toughness and thunder, not flashy high profiled number 1 picks. Jacobs-Britt-Manning-Britt-Jacobs bulldozing right through the very earth of the Meadowlands. We played like this around these parts, we won like this around these parts.

check out some of K B's background at:
