NFL  > Indianapolis Colts  > Holt to the Colts? or Draft Pick for Chad? Give Peyton some real weapons!!!
March 17, 2009, 03:50 PM
I think we should give Tory Holt a 2 yr deal...or trade a draft pick for Chad Johnson...more offense is needed in INDY...New England is doing everything to make sure Peyton never wins another Super Bowl! Pay attention to the news lately?

Is any body considering giving Tory Holt a 2 yr deal? or give up a draft pick for Chad Johnson? Either we need to get the offense back up to scoring 35+ a game or actually spend money on some real defensive players....linebackers and DT's are needed...

They need to stick with focusing on the D and running the football. Manning has always been able to spread the ball around to whoever. They need someone who can pound the ball.

March 17, 2009  04:50 PM ET

The Colts aren't able to throw the ball because of the run...the Colts' game plan is built to throw first--and that is what opens up the run...

March 17, 2009  08:14 PM ET

They need to get a tall WR that can go up and get the ball. Peyton has never had that luxury throughout his whole career. Brady threw about 12 TD's last year from the 1 yard line just tossing a ball in Moss's general direction. If he they get threat via Chad Johnson, then their offense will be complete. Johnson as the big tall #1 WR, Reggie Wayne as a possesion WR with somewhat of a deep threat, and Anthony Gonzales as a great slot WR..

wiseup: double checked stats for Gartrell Johnson. In New Mexico Bowl, Johnson carried the ball 27 times for 285 yrds, 2 TDS,longest carry 77 yds, and caught 5 passes for 90 yrds, longest reception was 55 yards. During the season, In 13 games, had 278 carries for 1476 yards, 5.3yrds per carry, 113.5 yards per game, and 12 TDS.
As a receiver, caught 32 passes for 295 yards, 9.2 yards per catch, and 22.7 per game.Gartell Johnson is out of Colorado State.

wiseup: I'm surprised Johnson hasn't gotten more attention. He is a big back with good speed. On that 77 yd run he had in the New Mexico Bowl, he ran away from the secondary. With his size he could be a difference maker in goal to go from the 1 or 2 yd line, something that has plagued the colts in the past. With Rhodes gone, and Hart an unknown, Johnson would be a good change of pace to Addai. Johnson can catch passes as well.

wiseup:Holt : YES ! Class act

Chad: NOOO! NO CLASS can't keep his mouth shut. Should take alessen from Harrison. He always acted like he has scored before. After a TD he would just hand the offical the ball and go about his business.

The COLTS will draft a speedy WR who will double as KR. I am not a true COLT fan, but my son is so I see plenty of their games. The only thing I see wrong with the team is that the new coach can not be like Dungy. Let Manning go no huddle most of the time while calling his own plays and this team will blow away the rest of the league!!! I am not talking about running up the scores (a.k.a. New England) but a fast pace attack in which the other teams can not change defensive personel. MANNING IS THE BEST QB I HAVE EVER SEEN! So let him run the pace of the game. With the lead, other teams will have to throw and that is the best part of the COLTS D - the pass rush. This will lead to another superbowl victory!!!

Do what we did last year...get best Colts type player or Nicks or Britt or Hayward-Bay...then trade for a high 2nd...and select DT or LB Larry English comes to mind... Torry or Chad would be a nice addition. Tory in Free Agency would be preferred. Chad would require picks...if a 3rd and a 5th would do it then ok. Has Marvin signed with anyone?

March 30, 2009  11:27 AM ET

Dewayne Robertson and Tank Johnson are still available FAs and are good decently young players...HELLLLLOOOOO, how do we not take them? Mathis, Johnson, Robertson, Freeney, how can we not attempt to have a front 4 like that???? Maybe bring in Derrick Brooks to play a year or 2, All 3 would come at a cheap price, as well as possibly Dre Bly, Then we could take Nicks or Britt in the 1st round.

Not a bad idea for Holt, however that money was used on Kelvin Hayden and Jeff Saturday. I think the retirement of Marvin Harrison will spark a competition for a WR that hasn't been the same since the 05 season. The Colts have never moved on from him before. Its always been "he's hurt" or "he's back, but not the same". Lets be honest and understand the philosophy of the Colts will be a lot better once they move on from the eye sore and void of a declining player that demanded a first look because of who he is. I like the emergence of a player like Pierre Garcon or Roy Hall to compete for a number 2 receiver spot. Its time to address the real issues like DT, LB, and O-line. I say spend every pick on the DT and OL in this years draft. Time to bulk up and not rely on 6th rounders or undrafted free agents to be starters by week 2.

I agree that they need a bigger back to pound the ball, and they need someone to stuff the run on the DL. Not a bad idea about going after Derrick Brooks, he would be a great fit with his yrs of Exper.

peyton has his one-two,remember the years looking for a viable number two to go along with marvelous marvin ? We looked at sean dawkins, e green, pathon, Ismail(might be wrong about that one), and even the stokemeister until reggie developed. Our present one-two of reggie and gonzo is good enough to allow a plethora of wannabees and hopefuls to emerge as viable number threes. Holt=Marvin and does not put us forward. Reggie and gonzo with clarky are the best three in the league, lets address the RB situation, Rhodes is gone and Joe cant carry the load, safety,CB,DE are great...DT s/b the behemoth from UWO. In the last game of the year Peyton audibles out of a short run for 1st down(similar to a goal line smash) as he was not confident we could run for one yard. Let's get him that confidence!!!
