Also in later rounds CBs Darius Butler, DJ Moore, and Mike Mickens look like good choices

At 9 I like Raji, Brown, Orakpo, Jenkins and Oher in that order. Raji is the best option. I know the whole Reynolds thing scares some people off of Brown, but if you watch the tape and look at his workout measurable, guy can flat out play. I really think he's a safer bet than Orakpo. Brown isn't injury prone, has good speed, strength and technique, and better production. I still think Jenkins is an amazing player no matter what his timed speed is and at 4.50 he's gonna be able to keep with most receivers. Oher is a bit of a reach at 9, but I think people are a little to hard on him, he has good technique and a perfect frame to back up Clifton next year and start in 2010 after learning the system. If we trade down into the teens, then Oher is still on my list as well as Jackson, Maybin, Davis and maybe Wells. Only if we trade into the 20s should we look at Sintim or English.
They need to trade one of those picks for Peppers, Kampman and Peppers on the outside, Barnett and Hawk in the middle, I'd give a first round pick for that.
With the 9th pick this is who i would be happy to draft. And if you copy and paste any of the links and watch these players to their thing you'll see why.
BJ Raji - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UQ2YGE9SLM ...Don't get your hopes up, i havent.
Brian Orakpo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZTelDHwUwY an athlete that understands the game, and can play OLB. most likely wont be here at 9 but you never know...
Everette Brown - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXJJ14HL5EE... amzing pure pass rusher WATCH THE VIDEO!
Aaron Maybin
tyson jackson - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qna40zT5FVk&feature=related
a bit early for him here but he's going to be a solid DE in a 3-4 Defense like we now have. and a player who never gives up on the play.
Since we didnt not sign Kalif Barnes and are unaware of the status of Tauscher, or anyone else, these players would be great.
Eugene Monroe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qna40zT5FVk&feature=related
Michael Oher - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjM8bL0X9P4
I know those are Off. Tackles, and you probably wont watch their videos... but you should watch the videos because it will save you heartache if we do draft one of those players. Not exciting, i know but look at least take 5 minutes and see their skill, so you arent disappointed to see them as a packer.
i agree it wouldnt be a bad thing to trade down a little bit for a Brian Cushing (USC), Larry English Northern ILL), Connor Barwin(CINCI), Vontae davis (ILL), Brandon Pettigrew (OKST), Michael Johnson (Georgia Tech), Alphonso Smith (Wake For.)
... i am just throwing names out there for mid-late or early 2nd round picks for you to think about, i encourage you to go look at their highlights VIA youtube or any other way you can. thanks!
The packers need shut down corners and safeties. Plus one good pass rusher and there in the thick of things. They just haven't been able to defend the pass and put equal pressure on the opposing quarterbacks.
Last, what is the heck going on with that A J Hawk. He is a disaster. Play goes left he goes right. Play goes straight ahead, he moves out of the way. The guy is a wart that they need to just take their losses on and move on.
Brown is not the same kind of player as Reynolds by any means if you watch his videos. But i agree i would have it: 1. Raji, 2. Brown, 3. Orakpo. But i do not like Jenkins at all. He looks like another Nick Collins to me. Most likely Orakpo and Raji will be gone and at 9 most liekly stuck with Brown, Oher, or Maybin. I also don't like Maybin. The safest bet is trading down in the middle of Round 1, drafting Oher, then possibly picking up Larry English, Robert Ayers, or Clint Sintim early in Round 2.

LOL ok Minnesota guy....A.J hawk was the playmaker of the defense the first 2 weeks and then from that point on he had a Pectoral tear and then a Groin pull....see how effective you can be with those injuries
Maybin - I have seen him take over games as well as almost take off a QBs head....
Brown - Pass rusher like freeney type moves (spin, reverse spin and rip...)
M.jenikins is not immediate need but it helps depth

Green Bay Packers -Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
Fills a need for the packers, that is a highly productive player and versatile pass rusher to fill the empty spot of ROLB, he may not be the top 3-4 OLB but he is prolly 2nd. the packers defense seemed even with the game in hand they could not prevent the other team from driving and taking the lead and a relentless pass rush could take care of that problem. The kid has a aggressive mean streak + has never gotten into any trouble in his life....now that's a rare combo, he will most likely be snapped up quickly.
If we can't get Orakpo, then my choice is Tyson Jackson. I've seen a lot of mock drafts with him going mid to late first round, but I think it's irrelevant. The man is a beast and a perfect fit at DE for our new scheme. If a team wants to trade with us we might be able to get him later, but recently I've seen a lot of people slotting him to the Broncos. Personally I'd rather spend the 9th pick on him and guarantee his spot on the roster (then again I suppose it depends on how good the offer would be for the 9th pick).
Orakpo is the perfect fit, if hes not there then trade down, i know this is not the tt philosophy but they really should consider getting in the mix for peppers, could you imagine peppers on one side and kampman on the other with barnett and hawk (who still has much room for improvement) in the middle of that 3-4. goodnight, also raji just failed a drug test at the combine, maybe pace could be worth a look to fill in on the o line for a few years.
Pace signed with the bears and Raji failed a drug test. So he's slipping a bit and should be there for the PAckers at 9. Then do we take him? or go with a safer pick like Maybin?

lets assume they trade down, tyson jackson is the best option, the packers really need a 5 technique. other than him, oher is a great option, along with any of the 3 usc linebackers. i would rank them as Cushing, Matthews Jr., then Maualuga. If they draft Ray, who, despite his poor postseason performance, should still go top 12 in my opinion, hawk could stay outside and play opposite kampman. however, i feel they should and will get raji. NOTE: Raji did not fail a drug test at the combine. he failed one at BC, but is not a risk. I remember one Warren Sapp falling to pick 12 because of concerns about him smoking chronic at Miami. SECOND NOTE:Peppers has listed 5 teams he wants to go to. Green Bay is not on the list. If they want a veteran OLB, they should get Jason Taylor, who can start while they develop other options for the year after.
Trade up for a change and go after Curry. Instead of wasting a pick in the first round or trading down go for the gold and bring in the only guy that appears to be the real deal. Instand impact.
In this order of likeliness if they pick at 9: Aaron Maybin, B.J. Raji, Andre Smith, Brian Orakpo. I really think that if they pick at 9 it will be one of those players, otherwise they will likely trade down. My own personal rankings of those players (with slight consideration to position need): Orakpo, Raji, Maybinl, Michael Oher, Andre Smith. I think Orakpo is a great athlete and has the production to back it up. Raji is a huge run stuffing asset in the 3-4 with decent pass rushing ability. He's hardly behind Orakpo, probably because of the character concerns more than anything else. I also like Maybin much more than the rest of the bunch of 3-4 linebackers. I think his talents are yet to truly be tapped, and he has a way higher roof than say an Everette Brown. He could also instantly contribute in providing a pass rush. I look at Andre Smith and Michael Oher in pretty similar sense as both risk-reward scenarios: Smith with weight concerns and I just can't get a strait feeling on Oher. If they trade down or up there are a number of players they could go for but i few to note might be: Tyson Jackson, Peria Jerry, Larry English, Michael Oher, Everette Brown, Brian Cushing, Ray Maualuga, Clay Matthews. I really think their most pressing need is actually offensive tackle, i think they could make do with their players on defense, and some other possible free agents, but their tackles are seriously questionable. Tauscher may be done from injury, and Clifton really looked like a weak link at times. d
Maybin....Need a DE more then DT. Pickett is a good NT just have to worry about him getting worn down. But can get a good back up with a late round pick. As I have said on other topics the Packers need to trade this pick and pick up a few extra picks later in the draft. Even if Stafford or Sanchez is off the board a lot of teams are looking at Freeman as a possible pick so some might be willing to move up to make sure they get him. Plus with a lot of rumors about Bills looking to deal there OT Peters we could use a few extra picks just in case TT wises up and makes a push to deal for him. Pack have the cap room for him and figure we package a 2nd round pick, and maybe Martin and a 3rd or 4th round pick in next years draft we could get him. This will really shore up our OL and figure not going to get as good a tackle in the 2nd round of this draft as we would get in Peters.
