NCAAB  > General NCAAB  > 1-3 seeds in tact....not enough mid-majors...
March 23, 2009, 09:45 AM
For the first time ever in the "big dance" all the 1-3 seeds reach the sweet 16 in tact. I personally think that's because there are less mid-majors in the tourney than ever before.

The committee put teams in like "Tennessee", who played in an incredibly down SEC league this year, instead of going with more mid-majors who probably could've beaten them.

Less upsets to me means we should put less of the "middle" teams of these supposedly stronger conferences, and consider more mid-major teams that are near the top of their conference.

The ACC, one of the TOP rated conferences is only 7-7 between the NIT and NCAA tourneys.....so either the ACC is overrated or the mid-majors and others deserved more of a shot.
