NFL  > New York Giants  > have to do something at wide out
March 28, 2009, 09:43 PM
Jerry R. is the man. He makes good judgement and methodical in his decision making. Instead of overpaying for a wide out he beefs up the D. to see what happens to plexico. However if plex does not come back he must and i mean must get a proven wide out. Even if he has to over pay for edwards with three draft picks. If you think about it the defense just got a whole lot better and it was already good to begin with. We did not lose games down the stretch because of out defense. we were not getting blown up even with osi out and tuck bang up. we couldnt score. we couldnt put fear in guys. we need plex. and honestly even if he comes back get him and edwards. that would make sure we score 30 a game and the d is solid. oustside linebacker would be nice. o line depth a luxuary. wide out a must!!!!

I agree with the addition of a complete TE from the draft. TE disappeared from offense last year.

March 29, 2009  01:24 PM ET

We definitly need a TE,and dump gilbride!!

i think Boss is an average tight end. However average players become good and good players become great when there is lots of talent around them. give boss to stud receivers around him and he will fly past defenses under the rador. any tightend that falls to them in the draft might be a better blocker then boss but not a better catcher. we have a good blocking o line already so again. Edwards Edwards Edwards

Giants can trade for a te. I would not overpay for Edwards will all the draft picks. Plax will get of but will be suspended by Goodell. I think giants should try trade for Tony G. A cheap trade for Chad Johson, Or sign torry holt to a 1 year deal then draft wr's. The Giants should not get suckered by trading for Braylon Edwards(the Browns want a outrageous amount) let him keep dropping balls for the Browns. Forget Boldin since he will resign with Arizona.

"My man" (american gangster movie) Do you remember how everything he said that phrase it seemed like another person died. Will My man eli manning threw to plenty of guys that dropped passes last year. he dropped one pass per game. But not many against us on monday night. The only game that our defense let us down. He is a threat we can overcome a drop pass here and there because actually our beloved gmen wide outs do the same thin. So trade for my man edwards and kill the idea of getting chad. Hes entertainning and all but to much drama. Leave the acting to Denzel

NIce Point Jovan. But EDwards led the League in drop passes. He did have a good year 2007 though. I just think the Browns are trying to Hi jack the Giants for draft picks. It's a Ruse. Mangini is going to want to add draft picks to help mold the Browns into his team. Jerry Reese is no fool. I would not be surprised if they went too another team before or during the draft for wideout help. There are other good receivers in the league that can be traded for. Plus keep in mind that after the draft, teams that did not get their players during draft , also tend to grab the best free agents left.Even if the Giants get a name receiver their strength is the running game. Another book end te will compliment their passing game nicely.

Good Point mr J. But remember Edwards led the league in dropped passes this year. I feel the Browns will try to hi jack the Giants for draft picks. Mangini is trying to build a team in his image more draft picks are needed for that. He does not have the Giants over-a barrel. There are other good wideouts in the league that can be traded for a reasonable price. The Giants traditionaly rely on their running game. A book end te with Boss would also be great options. Jerry Resse is no fool. I don't htink he'll over pay for a guy like Edwards. If edwards is so great, why would the Browns trade him with Stallworth just about washed up?

P.S. don't be surprised if the Giants go in another direction on draft day. They are good at setting up smokescreens and not revealing their cards.

We dont need a TE. Boss gets the job done... period. He might not be as flashy as shockey was (which is what most NY fans got used to) but he doesnt negate his yards with penalties like Shockey did. Giants are run first offense and they now utilize the slot rec (smith) which they did not do as much when they had shockey go to the pro bowl. He gets open when he needs to and makes the catch. he is an "all around" te. he can block and catch. If you really want a flashy te that is more of a rec, then the giants lose the running offense mentality. Think of other teams that have a premier te and utilize a slot reciever. Only one I can think of is Indy with Dallas Clark. but he is a real special player and again... more reciever then TE.

I agree completely. Another TE is not needed. Boss didn't produce much this season because, frankly, we didn't need him to. However, we do need a couple of receivers, but I would rather get them through the draft. Edwards leads the NFL in drops over the past three seasons and Boldin is not a #1 receiver and will cost too much. Besides, it's not like we need receivers to put up 100 yards a game. We just need threats to open up the running game.

There is no sure thing solution for a WR through trade or the draft. Why not add Tory Holt and trade your picks to Spags for the Rams slot and draft Aaron Curry. Add him to what you've already done on defense and the offense won't need to score more than 10 points a game.

1. Holt is old and will get hurt. I wish that weren't the case.
2. Adding Aaron Curry won't help the problem we have right now, beaside the team does not have the cap room to make a move like that. And a receiving trio of Boos, Smith and Hixon??? Dude, what planet are you on!?!?!?

We need a deep threat for sure!!! someone to stretch the defense. hixon boss and smith might ger it done but certainly nothing to hang your hat on. We did not lose to the eagles because of defense or anything else. we couuld not put fear into people. give up a 2nd 3rd and 5th and even throw in hixon for edwards.

I don't think Cleveland is taking anybody less than Steve Smith for Edwards.
