NFL  > Dallas Cowboys  > Which player would you like: Boldin or Peppers?
March 29, 2009, 03:06 AM
This offseason 3 players said they would like to play for the Cowboys....Anquan Boldin, Ray Lewis, and Julius Peppers. Ray decided to re-sign with the Ravens (followed by his remarks that he never wanted to play anwhere else...even tho 2 days earlier there was a article made public that quoted Ray as saying " Dallas....i would love to play there...but they dont have the money for me...so I will stay with the team that drafted me."). Boldin is still unsigned and Peppers hasnt singed his franchise tender and is openly being shopped. Now the Cowboys dont have the means to sign either player, but if they could get just one of them....which player would benefit them the most?

Boldin. They need a receiver to replace The Oral one. But, as you said, they can't afford him.

Neither. Cowboys need to revamp defense. We have Demarcus what we do need is an inside linebacker than can play with James

neither. look at **** receivers.

neither. look at sh*tsburghs receivers

Peppers in a second, if he's still healthy. There's nothing like bookend DE's who can get pressure on the QB and stuff the run. Hides a lot of weaknesses in the backfield.
Lewis is past his prime. Cowboys have decent receivers. They need a better O-line. You've got a mobile QB who is great when he has protection, but prone to fumble when he gets pressured. Remember, Elway and Marino had good, but not great receivers.
A little protection in the game against the Giants and it would have been the Cowboys in the SB against the Patriots (though the Patriots would have creamed them again). And if the Cardinals hadn't have broken Romo's finger and the Steelers gotten to him late, the Cowboys win two or three more games.

Neither, Dallas's number one need is at the Safety position. The other priorities would be ILB, NT and OL / CB for depth. The Cowboys definitely do not need to draft a WR until the six or seventh round. Miles Austin will have a breakout season.

They need a better O-line that can make-up for Romo's lack of ability to recognize the defense (blitze, coverages) and call the right audible before the ball is snapped with 1 second left in the playclock. In other words, Romo needs to help his O-line help him.

I'd rather have Peppers and do it like the Giants did when they won it. You cant go wrong with D

March 30, 2009  03:52 PM ET

Boldin is a possession WR, and we already have that in Roy.

Peppers is the best choice for this team....putting Peppers at LOLB and having Ware on the Right side would be flat out sick.

Neither can be double teamed and they are both so incredibly athletic and fast that they can drop in coverage and not skip a beat.

The price tag would be outrageous but Ware and Peppers are hands down the best pass rushers in the league over the last 5 seasons.

March 30, 2009  05:38 PM ET

Peppers. A great pass rush without blitzing will keep you in every game you play. Watch how much better safety play gets. Remember trading for Charles Haley? Does that RING a bell?

/neuther the new stadium is sold out and Jerrry did it with the team he is fielding. If he was serious about winning as he is about the new staduim you'd have money for both of them. Defense wins Championships Peppers in a heartbeat! but we are getting beat deep not off the line. need safeties and CB's who dont see the back of the opposing treams jersey running into the endzone!

i am in agreement that we are in desperate need of a safety. Most mock drafts have us taking the kid from Bama or Chung from Oregon State. I dont think either of them guys is going to pan out but i have more faith in the kid from Bama being a better fit. Ken Lucas is still on the market and I believe that we still need a CB. Jenkins and Scandrick played well last year but I dont think either is ready. Let me say that I have never liked Flozell Adams and have wanted him gone for years. He is a piece of trash. I wouldnt be mad at them for drafting a tackle with there first pick in the draft but it just wouldnt make sense. This draft is deep in tackles and guards so get the safety with the first pick. We have so many holes to fill in the D dat it aint even funny. But as far as the question goes I agree with Jeff. No one can tell me that there would be a more feared group of backers out there if Peppers joined that team and played linebacker. Ware and Peppers outside with Brookings and James inside.....DYNAMITE!!

The Girls need a new Quaterback and a new Owner. The test of time has proven that they have neither. Romo can't win in the cold, and Jerruh is just an older version of the idiot in Deadskin Country. More money than sense. You can't buy a championship in the NFL, and you won't win unless you can win in December and January. That means that the Girls win not win for a long time.

I love peppers since i am i unc fan. but boldin is better at his position more consistently and he also is needed more by the cowboys

April 13, 2009  08:32 PM ET

Doesnt matter the Cowboys have had the best talent in the NFL the few last years and always seem to waste it.
