NFL  > New Orleans Saints  > Are Saints' LBs good enough?

I've heard over and over that the DBs are the defensive weak link. I'm pretty certain that's been taken care of the last 2 years through the draft and free agency. My concern lies more with the LBs. Other than Vilma I don't see much speed or quality depth. Am I just not looking it right?

I have beeI have been a Saints fan since team started up. That is very long time. Payton is an offensive minded coach. He will put money into the offense, but when it comes to the defense he believes that he can throw anyone in there and plug the hole.

I have tracked the moves that the team has done. The players that they have picked up (mostly defensive). The players that he is picking up might have 1 year experience but they sat they bench. THEY HAVE NO GAME EXPERIENCE. You can only do so much with a so so defense.

Now back to the question. The LB position could use improvement but the position that needs it the most is the CB. THE Saints have never had strong CB???s like the Jets. That cost money, BIG MONEY. Money that would be taken away from his offense.

If the Saints want to stay on top of their game, their defense must be as good as their offense or better. Remember defenses win games. They keep you in games when the offense is not in sync.

The Saints must address this issue in off season in the free agent market. Something thing that Payton does frequent anymore. If he does it is a low level player that he can get for pennies compared to the quality players out there.
