Russ Francis, modern day Renaissance Man, awesome Tight End, one of the first real deep threats at his position. Not only was he a talented football player, he was an accomplished sky-diver, scuba diver and part-time Professional Wrestler. He could do it all.
Wow. A mind blowing question. I am only 32, so my memories of the Pats goes back to the John Stevens, Wade Wilsons, Jim Plunketts, and Ben "Winter" Coates of the world. I dont think there is any argument that Tom Brady is the most talented Patriot ever (I dont believe in potential, I believe in doing, and he has don "it"), but for arguments sake, we'll say he isn't. In my time watching the Pats, I think Ty Law has been the most talented Patriot. Law had his best years when he was pushed, albeit by a contract or the thought of being cut. Nonetheless, when Law turned it on, nobody could get free of him. He was absolutely dominant. He was a really skilled tackler as well. If Belichick had coached throughout his career, I think we wouldnt be debating if Law would be in Canton, but when.

Mr. T (little buddy) Brown...Troy was your do it all, anytime play maker...not too many players have the mindset nor the talent to be able to play all three sides of the ball. Hats off to Troy Brown.

I'll agree on Ty Law, even thought the Patriots are the devil.
John Hannah is considered by many experts to be one the the best linemen [and best Guard] in NFL history ... I am not sure one could say that any other Patriot player at another position is in a serious conversation [by the experts] of "best in NFL history" at their position.
To enigma3535: I can think of at least one other as "best in NFL history" Patriot: Adam Vinatieri. Granted he is no longer a Pat, but after 3 Super Bowl appearances with them (plus his ring with the Colts) he is the ONLY kicker ever mentioned as a potential HOF'er.
For the question of most talented Patriots of all time, it's tough to argue against Geno Cappaletti (pardon the spelling since I probably got it wrong) or against Troy Brown. Both were multi-position threats, and both are class guys as well.
Ken Walters and his 24.8yds per punt average...........god I miss him............:)
As far as being the most talented at his position..I'm going to have to say John Hannah, our first Hall of Famer and still the most dominant player in NE history. Maybe I'm just being old, because it's hard to say it's not Brady, but Brady has had the luxury of QB'ing in the Belichick era with a first rate organization. When Hannah was in his prime, he was often the only good thing on a laughing stock...anyone over 40 has to remember when we were like Detroit is or the Bengals almost all of the time.

I think Brady and SEYMOUR... They have to sign him back. He's the BB type of player can line up anywhere on the Line, and is a 6'6 310pounds, who is the Pats blood on the D-line... Though i like all of em, Wilfork, Warren, Green and one of the Most talented patriot of all time, RICHARD SEYMOUR
Randy Moss and it's not even close based on pure talent.
Easiest question I can think of in the past 20 years - here's the answer -
BILL BELICHEK.
Hands down the most talented New England Patriot of all time ;)
