3rd and one - yes.
3rd and nine - not so much. Mountain motion is tough to get under way, by the time it's moving good, the band is playing the alma mater.

The question is... will he stay for the whole combine?

Yes. He will also not get suspended for asinine garbage and shaft his Sugar Bowl-bound team.
"Mount" Cody said that he feels much more confident in his hand and hip motion and is training his wind and speed. He wants to be a pass-rusher and a run-stopper. I think he will play more third downs but will make a bigger impression on offense in the goal line formation. They experimented last year with him on run plays but he was hurt the next game and his conditioning suffered. He played to much catch-up after that to worry about trick-plays. Cody running the ball or blocking on fourth down could become Alabama's version of the "Jump Pass."
he has said that his motivation is to stay on the field longer, he never played on passing downs and therefore hardly played at all in the Florida and Utah games (both losses). If anybody remembers before his injury that he was dominant, if he could up that conditioning and be able to stay out there longer he will make the D-Line a crazy tough force, not to mention enable pass rushers around him to get free (he takes up multiple blockers, someone's coming in free, couldn't do that on passing downs with him off the field, which is part of why Bama's pass rush didn't excel).
I've been waiting for Joekidd to comment about this but I can't wait any longer! A while back Joekidd claimed that Cody will win the Heisman in 09, not sure if he was kidding or not.
No lineman on either side of the ball has ever won the award. Only one defensive player has ever won the Heisman, that being Charles Woodson from the 97 Wolverines. But I believe Woodson was also a return man and was used as a wide out occasionally.
But as Marty and bamakemp both made mention of, Cody is a difference maker and if he can avoid the injury bug this year, his impact should be huge.
If Herr Cody gets double digit sacks next year and rushes for a thousand yards I don't see why he shouldn't get a heisman.

Until you mentioned it earlier, I was unaware of Cody being a ball handler. If they do use him as a back, my guess it would only be for short yardage situations and I doubt he would get any big numbers as far as total yardage goes. But if he were to get a dozen or so first downs and maybe a few td's combined with his expected defensive play, maybe Joekidd is on to something.
But I think it would unlikely for Cody to get in the Heisman Beauty Contest. Sure would make a great story though.

I agree. I have a lot of respect for any player who wins the Heisman but I don't have a lot of respect for the award itself or the selection process. Cody could be the "most outstanding player in collegiate football" but the Heisman rarely goes to the most outstanding player.

Depends on whether or not they're serving donuts afterwards.

If his ONLY contribution to this years team is that he makes our opponents plan their offensive schemes with him in mind, then he has done everything we've asked him to do. Anything above that should be considered a bonus.

He played RB before he transfered to Alabama.
Where did he play? Juco, I am sure, but what school?
Can you imagine stepping up into the hole as a LB and seeing him rumbling at you? Lord, help me....

Of course it was a joke. I'd have to be completely clueless on college football to think a DL could even be in the running for the Heisman.
With that being said, he could be the DL of the year. Yes, he's big, but he's a lot quicker than people think. The problem is that he plays NG which almost by definition gets a double team. NGs tend not to get the limelight. It's the other guys that get freed up that usually get the glitzy stats.

It was Gulf Coastal CC. He was playing RB at 401 there. I guess he just fell over the goal line.
I was joking earlier about him getting 20 sacks and 1,000 yds. I was joking that it would have to be a mythical season for him to get serious consideration.

Now that he is down to 354, will Terrance Cody be a force on 3rd down and pass-rushing?

Cold-Blooded. If you got hate in your heart- let it out.

I think he was the only RB with limited contact ,in practice, to keep from hurting the tackles.
