MMA  > Fight Club  > Limiting The Flop
April 24, 2009, 09:01 AM
Two fighters enter........ One wants to stand and one wants to roll. After a few unsuccessful take down attempts the ground fighter starts flopping on his back everytime the striker gets close. The fighters look at each other, the fans boo and the ref. tries in vain to get some action going. They say styles make a fight and these two can make a lousy fight. So what if we limit the number of flops a fighter can take in a round. Maybe a fighter gets two flops. If the other fighter chooses not to make contact then the ref. stands them up. The next flop is a warning. The next is a point. The next ends the fight. The idea being that the sport should favor the well rounded fighter and entertain the fans. If your striking is not equal to your opponent's then you'd better be able to chase him down, take him down or win in the clinch.
