NFL  > New York Giants  > Trade up and get....

Laurunaitus or Clay Matthews. Why? Because I don't think any WR whose name isn't Crabtree is worth trading up for. Better value doing that for a good LB and take our chances that Nicks, Britt or Harvin slip a bit into the 2nd round. I still think we could even trade up in the second to get one of these guys and have our cake and eat it too. Face it, A. Pierce is showing his age, we were way too slow in the middle last year and I think a stud MLB is more important to this team that all this bull about WR. I think Reese is absolutly right and is not panicked by the loss of Plax. The Steelers didn't have a #1 and they seemed to do just fine with Ward and Holmes to win the SB. Giants can win without a true #1, (pretty much did it most of last season with Plax out every other game). Smith, Hixon, Manningham, and Boss....can all step it up next year and be fine.

Should be interesting tomorrow...cant wait to see what Magic Resse brings this year!

I agree that they could use the first pick on a lb instead of WR. It would be an unbelievable job by JR if he got someone like britt or Nicks with a 2nd rounder and picked up a LB. the only thing I disagree with is the comment about the steelers not having a no1. Ward is dependable as is holmes. Neither fall into the Moss, owens category but they are very good recievers and better than what the giants have at 1 and 2 right now. plus they had Washington and sweed in the mix as weel with heath miller. So they were pretty much set on the reciever side of the ball. The giants will not make it back to the playoffs if they dont get some serious help at WR.

No disrespect to Ward or Holmes. Both are great players and obviously had huge impact on winning the SB. The point i'm trying to make is that spending an exhaustive effort to try to "replace Plax" is not necessary. There are probably less than 50% of the teams in the NFL that have a "true #1 WR" meaning they demand the double coverage, and force teams to gameplan to shut them down opening up the field for other plays. , i.e. T.O. Larry F., R. Moss, Plax, Steve Smith. No doubt about it that the Giants #1 hole to fill is WR, but if the solution is not in this years draft class, then I say spend the upper pick on a LB who can come in immediately and make an impact. Very few WR's can do that as rookies. I would love to get a guy like Britt in the early second round and I think it is very possible. If we can get a productive rookie from the draft who can put up 600 yds, 5 TD's...I'll be happy. Other than that I think this years pass game is going to be a shared effort. I see Smith getting a lot more touches - 800 yds, 8 TDs, Hixon with 500 yds, 4tds, Manningham with a few and don't forget about Boss. I don't see any one player getting a 1000 yds, short of B. Edwards coming in and I think that's fine. Like I've said before, the Giants will win games with their run game and Defense as they always do. Pass game is secondary. It should be an interesting draft day, I have faith in Reese, he's done an outstanding job so far and see no different coming from him today.

It does seem as though Pierce lost focus after the Plax mess.

I would trade this year's first and third (and maybe next year's 3rd) to the Rams to get Crabtree. Well, to anybody to get crabtree. That is really the G-men's only glaring "weakness/need"
