NFL  > Detroit Lions  > Larry Foote, the next Lion MLB?

With Foote cut by the Steelers and his desire to play for his hometown team...

???Ain???t no doubt about that,??? Foote said from his home in Michigan today, after he learned that the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers plan to release him. ???I would love to come home. My family is here. I just bought a house here. It would be great. And just to answer critics: I???m not a veteran trying to come home and cash out on my hometown team. I???m a baller first. I wouldn???t sacrifice that for nothing.???

...the Lions draft approach sounds better. I have a feeling that the Lions knew this cut would happen, and instead of having a rook at MLB, they figured they good fill the TE and S roles with draft picks, then possibly sign Foote to play in the middle.

If they play a 4-3, that would give them Peterson, Foote and sims as their linebacking core. The next fix will be to get someone who can pressure the quarterback, and another wide body to fill the holes up front.

Hopefully all it takes is the extra 5th rounder we have from Denver.

He is going to be cut after mini camp practices this weekend...this coming from a source..probably his agent. It would be great....Wont happen if they try to trade because the Lions will overpay in a big way

take him off pit hand and make him apart of this soon to be great season. lets make the playoffs now, we seen this play out last yr. with miami, and atlanta. why do we have to lose such a great draft on maybe next season? i say play the rookies and put a d-fence on the field, that is capable of making plays. if they are coached well they suceed, they are all professionals, they did'nt get to this point by being bums. coach them right, with the right schems, they will flouish. no excuses, i'm tired of hearing rookies have to learn, you scare the crap out of them, just throw on running downs , run on throwing situations. and don't let him hold the ball long, get rid of the ball quickly. let him progress like this, max pass protection, if the bigs can't block, get some1 who can. i rather see a hold than my qb geting sack, but to much holding, and the bigs should get replaced,

Foote is scheduled to meet with the Lions on Wednesday.

Don't let him leave town without a signed contract.

Took a little while, but now it's a done deal. The new management team got him without having to trade any picks.

This signing gives the Lions a great linebacker core. If they can get some help from the interior line, their defense will be greatly improved, granted they had one of the worst of all time last year so making strides forward won't be too tough, lol.
