NFL  > Philadelphia Eagles  > How do the Eagles reach the next level ?

The best thing the birds can do now is let Mcnabb call the plays on the field.
Time is a factor in his career now, we do not know how much he has left in him.
Now is the time !
Message for A Reid, its time to stop playing with your toys and let the pros take
us to the bowl.

QUOTE(#1):

The West Coast Offense is supposed to be all quick reads and quick delivery.McNabb doesn't play that way. He holds onto the ball too long because he does not make the quick read. That was made apparent when Jeff Garcia took over and played the system better than McNabb ever did.Calling the plays prior to the snap involves anticipation and smart reads. That is McNabb's weakness. I don't want the offense built around his weakness. With McNabb's arm and our receiver speed... we should take plays out of New England. Deep slants with B-West running Wes Welker type underneath routes.

I have to disagree with you on that. Andy stated learning the west coast offense would take Donovan about 5-6 years, or any player for that matter, to master the system. We saw him develop those skills over the years, and in 04 his was brilliant... when he had weapons surrounding him. Historically Donovan has one of the lowest pass/int ratio. I believe he has mastered the system, and can make every throw. He has a good feel for the game, and can operate the offense in a way like Peyton Manning (not literally of coarse). The off. cor. calls in 3 plays, and Donovan can audible at will.
As a fan, I am eager to see the balance on offense with the power run game created by youth and power. Add in a very good west coast FB in Weaver blowing up holes for Westbrook, and McCoy, and carrying himself in goal line, as well as being very adept at receiving. McNabb has a great deep ball, and play action will his best weapon because teams will have to respect the run. I am happy for him, he finally was rewarded with an arsenal of play-makers. We all know it, and no one can deny it, he carried the team on his back for a long time. We made unbelievable play-off runs with mediocre players around him. They are so much more improved in the skill positions, and line, that defenses are going to have match-up nightmares. The thought of the O-Line, plus Maclin, Jackson, Ingram, Westbrook, and McCoy all on the field is pretty scary. S.Teams should also should get a big boost (not likr it needed it).
Can't wait for the season to start.

I've counted McNabb out many times, but he keeps delivering in the clutch. He can't win the big one, but he can sure make it exciting. In all honesty, he's one of my favorite all time QBs. I do think, however, he would be better off on another team. He has been great in Philly, but his game tends to get stale around mid-Season. Bad throws, fumbles, frustration the Eagles and McNabb need to part ways. In a previous comment was mention Jeff Garcie's success running the Eagles offense. I thought the Eagles would have smartened up to this by now, but if you let a talent like McNabb stay put for too long they begin to grow complacent. Garcie was a fresh face in Philly trying to solidify himself as a top QB. He was HUNGRY. So are hundreds of other young, good QBs out there.

Bottomline: Eagles aren't going to win the big one with McNabb. You can call it a curse.

Run the ball and then run it some more.

Man! Please get off McNabb. The season is long and painful. Ups & Downs. He has done alot with nothing. I believe coaching has alot to do with it. When your best player or any player for that matter confidences is down; your job as a coach is to correct the problem. Take a time out/slow the game down for him/regroup/attack. With the new additions..minus one major hearbeat for this team (Dawkins); I think within the next two years we can take a major step. I do think we need to go ahead and trade 1 or 2 recievers and Mr. Sheldon Brown for Bradon Marshall. It's not a must. I just think it will help out a lil; but I am happy with what we have.

Man! Please get off McNabb.

Thank you.
When 5 finally delivers a S.B. win, they'll all be like "yo..McNabb's the shiznit!"
Until then, they'll just keep bashing him.
The Brandon Marshall thing is interesting isn't it?
If we are talking about it...you know the F.O. has already entertained the possibility.
For all the hype about wanting Boldin, I think Marshall would be an even better addition than Boldin would have. (from a pure football standpoint)
As a person, well it is night and day between those 2 players. Marshall has been getting in trouble since college, and has not grown up yet. He has a pot of gold sitting in front him...all he has to do is the right thing, and he will be rewarded. If a team was looking for a big, young, talented WR... Marshall is the guy. It is too bad the only thing most teams will do is talk about the possibility of having him and what he can do on the field, but not make it a reality because of what he does off the field.
Philly could def. make that happen if they chose to. They could easily offer up both Browns,(Sheldon,Reggie) and draft picks. Hell, they have 11 picks in 2010 without comps. They can stand to give a few away.
That would be the ultimate bomb squad though!
Jackson, Marshall, Curtis, Maclin, Avant, Baskett.
Too bad it's just a fantasy! If only he played nice off the field, it could have been a reality!
I'm happy with what we have as well. Lot's of speed and talent. There wont be enough balls to go around.

So in a fantasy trade situation; who would you rather trade for Boldin, Edwards, Marshall? Man...Any way, let them hate. We are a very successful team and I'm proud of our achievements. We just have one more to go......

In a "fantasy trade" I would take a leap of faith on Marshall and structure his contract in a way that if he were to continue his off field antics, he would void monies owed to him, and playing time. His youth, size, talent, and high ceiling would trump the older Boldin who plays beside Fitz, and Edwards who tends lack focus...and might not be dependable in clutch situations.
Marshall was the go to guy in Denver, and still caught 100 balls or more the last 2 years.
He is also used to catching fastballs from Cutler, so adjusting to 5 should be smooth.
He could be a force in this offense, with all the other talent around him, and a winning organization could be just what the doctor ordered for him to realize his potential and grow up by putting his team goals first.
Wishful thinking...maybe?
We do have a successful team, and I am also proud to be an Eagles fan.
Like you said...one more to go. Marshall could definately increase those chances.
That's my take...for whatever it's worth.

Keep in Mind McNabb would have, in all likely hood, won a Super Bowl Had someone not had hidden cameras on the Eagles side lines. McNabb has won more than any QB in the game today save for Big Ben, Tom Brady and Peyton. yet you constantly have to here the constant criticism heaped on him every year. When Jim Kelly lost his 4 Superbowls you never heard the same criticism. McNabb has won more playoff games then Dan Marino and Boomer Esiasin put together. Yet all I hear, is people constantly criticizing him. What is all this mess about Garcia running the eagles offense better than McNabb. Did they make it to the Superbowl behind Garcia. NO! Did they make it to the NFC championship behind Garcia? NO!! Statistically did they score more points or have less turnovers then Mcnabb did on any of their play off runs. NO!!! It is hard to win a Super Bowl. Ask the aforementioned Dan Marino and Boomer Esiason. If Mcnabb is fortunate enough to win it then Great. If he does not then that's too bad. But show Mcnabb some respect. Don't tell me all this garbage about him being one of your favorite players then turn around and place QB's who have not accomplished half of what he has over him. That makes me think the same thing McNabb thinks about a whole lot of you. But we will not go there.

Jackson, Marshall,Maclin, Curtis, Avant and Baskett; Celek, Ingram, Westbrook, Weaver and McCoy, 2 Andrews, Peters, Jackson and Herremans is smash mouth run the ball light up the scoreboard passing offensive football. With Weaver and this BIG young o-line smashmouth football is very achievable. A good running game, with great explosive passing and a great defense which the Eagles have is the recipe for a Super Bowl. Make the trade for Marshall.

YOU GUYS MAKE ME WANNA CRY..LETS GO EAGLE FANS

As tempting as it would be to trade for him, it is highly unlikely because Andy got burned by T.O. and T.O. had no off the field issues. Marshall was fun toying with the idea, but I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised by this offense in 09.
There are so many weapons offensively that if the line gives 5 at least 4 seconds to make his reads...we could all witness a very, very dynamic passing attack, as well as a much improved run game as well. The aforementioned rookies are not expected to come out of the gates and be pro bowlers, but have the potential to be explosive when they get their touches.
Maclin coming off the bench to give Curtis or Avant a breather is a good problem to have.
McCoy coming off the bench to give Westy a breather is a good problem to have.
When we had Chad Lewis, and L.J....Andy loved calling two TE formations with 2 WR's and 1 RB. When you have two very athletic TE's who can catch the ball...you can chew up the middle of the field, and aid in run support.(C.Lewis was not the most athletic guy, but he knew how to find the seams)
I think we are going to see more 2 TE sets this year.
I think Marty and Andy are going to be tickled pink with the mismatches they will be able to draw up.
There is so much speed and talent on this football team right now, that I am tickled pink.
I cannot remember an Eagles team this young and talented all across the board.
The O-line is beefed up!
Offense, defense, s.teams...it is going to be awesome. Can't wait!
