NFL  > Detroit Lions  > Lions worthiness of fan adulation
April 29, 2009, 10:16 AM
I'm a 47 year-old fan of the Lions, and for the last twenty, a suffering one. We were half way decent in the '80's. Anyone remember "another one bites the dust"? One game away from the Superbowl in the '90's---man, I hate the Redskins. But, since Barry's, abrupt, departure, it has been pure, abject torture. Last year, I watched the entire season fast forward on my DVR. Even then I didn't make it all the way through half of them. Looking for another team to root for, tho, is like someone wanting another wife because the current still has her baby-weight. I don't want to be that guy. I want to be rewarded for my loyalty. And I would, in a heart beat, if Mr. Ford Sr. called me today, haul Gatorade and collect dirty towels to be a part of another losing season. I'm not giving up. I'm not giving in. I am not a fair-weather-fan!
