NFL  > General NFL  > ROOKIES AND GUARANTEED MONEY
May 3, 2009, 10:21 PM
Lets looks at how football has changed since the strike years ago. Yes, it has gotten more exciting. The players are bigger and faster. Before the strike a player made good money. He just couldn't jump around. The team he was with could trade him. There was no free agent market like there is today.

The salaries have been going up and up. Not too long ago they started up with "Guaranteed Money". Like they do not make enough. They want to squeeze the owners out as much as possible. When they do retire they wind up bankrupt.

Now it's getting where the rookies are getting this "Guaranteed Money" also. I just ran across an article where Matthew Stafford will make more this year than Tom Brady. Didn't he just get drafted. He hasn't even proved himself yet.

Personnal I think that nobody should get this "Guaranteed Money". Their contracts are large enough. They are already getting a signning bonus. Some get get a bonus just to show up at camp early.

How much money can they really spend? How about this, make it all even. Everybody that is on the team gets $1 million dollars a year. That's it. No signing bonus, no other bonuses. If they don't care for that they can go in the public work force.

They did go to college to get an education, didn't they.
