NFL  > Seattle Seahawks  > Michael Vick Prediction
May 4, 2009, 11:17 PM
I predict that Vick will come back and find a team this season. The owners are going to be facing a collusion lawsuit if they ALL mysteriously ban the former 2 - time Pro Bowl selection. Vick is serving his time and to ban him from employment would be considered "cruel and unusual punishment."

I also predict that Vick's 1st home game and all his road games will be box office Sell-Outs. The man will play for the simply reason that love him or hate him, people are going to pack the house to see him play.

Seattle is one of those teams "rumored" to be in the mix, but God only knows.

I could see how they could be rumored to pick him up. After all, Mora drafted him, and he fits perfectly into our offense. With our suspect offensive line, his scrambling skills could go a long way to him finding one of our many recievers down the field. And Matt is going to be a target for opposing defenses trying to take him out due to all his recent injuries. If he gets hurt early in the season, I don't see how Vick wouldn't be one of the top picks for his replacement.
On top of that, there isn't a lot of trouble around the Seattle area for him to get in, so he could really try to clean his act up in the beautiful northwest. I think there would be lots of protests at first, and it might not be the happiest welcome from non-football fans, but Qwest field would really get rocking with an exciting player like Vick here.

I don't understand how people think it's so wrong for the NFL to ban a player for bad conduct. Isn't being an NFL player a job where players (aka employees) are supposed to act a certain way just like any other job? Why do so many people think Vick deserves better treatment than any other guy in America that's not an NFL quarterback? I guarantee that at least 95% of you would lose your current job and never be hired by them again if you were convicted of a felony and had to spend a couple years in jail. Some of you act like it is Mike Vick's god given right to be an NFL player. Being an NFL player is a priviledge and they can ban whoever the he!! they want to. My company refuses to hire convicted sex offenders. Is that cruel and unusual punishment also? One thing you are correct on though is that he will sell out games. Not because he's a good QB (He never has been) but because of 2 reasons. The first reason is that Americans are mostly dumb and believe pretty much anything the media tells them. I know this because if it weren't true then people would have never thought he was a great QB in the first place. The other reason is that Americans love football and most games are sold out no matter who is playing QB anyways.

I don't think the NFL will ban him. I couldn't really care either way but he still has talent, he would generate a lot of publicity (good and bad). It would be interesting to see where he would end up as well. There are still a few teams who need a veteran QB and there are a lot of places he could go. I don't know, but I do know I will be watching with a lot of interest.

Ban or not, he won't be coming to Seattle. Tim Ruskell is very clear about Character First, and though he will sometimes allow one strike, he'll let you go if you don't fit the team. I love Hill but you know that he is on thin ice after his Pot bust this year (notice no one else grabbed him up after the franchise tag was removed). Vick's "bad behavior" is pretty egregious for a community like Seattle. I understand him serving his time and all that, but let someone else take a gamble on a guy who hasn't set foot on an NFL field for almost 2 years, hasn't worked out with recievers, etc... If he plays, it will be in the new expansion league, or possibly the CFL, or as a backup. He was originally highly regarded not for his arm, but for his scrambling ability... he hasn't done that for a while either. I just don't see Seattle bringing him here (Remember, Ruskell chooses players, NOT Mora)

It's a GREAT business move to sign Vick. Whoever signs him will sell out EVERY game home and away.

If Seattle signed him it would be a HORRIBLE business move. There will be nothing but protests and riots in ol Hippie town Seattle.

Mora did not Draft Vick it was Dan Revees..

May 11, 2009  01:10 PM ET

We don't want Mike Vick..

May 15, 2009  01:03 PM ET

Yes, it would be "FUN" to have Vick in seattle but when you weight the pros and cons of Vick's presence it would out weight any benefit he could possibly bring. In my eyes it is a step back from hasselback when it comes to throwing arm accuracy. Again, Vick would bring the excitement of his scramble game but in the end it would hurt our offense.

May 19, 2009  04:09 PM ET

IF we got vick it would be condsider the biggest blunder since the boz deal. or that small QB from the fighting Irsh. I feel that we need to focus on next year draft not worrie about a person that kills animal with out showing any remorse to what he did. We can do better in the draft and mora can spot good talent when he see it

May 19, 2009  06:54 PM ET

People's memories will fade, he will play somewhere with huge protests at first and then the uproar will die down.
Peta- the home grown terrorist organization that it is will probably try to blow up a stadium other than that things should return to normal after a few weeks in the league.

Hurt "OUR" offense? Last I checked, Seattle is in Washington, not San Antonio Texas
Hahahahaha ...... You don't have a clue bub.
Paul Allen is more concerned about the character of the team he owns. Not alienating most of the teams fans for a national villian cuz a handfull of people think he's "Mr Excitement." They are not the Cowboys and Paul Allen is a far cry from Jerry Jones - thank god.

If the Seahawks have any dealings with Vick - I will become a 49er's fan. Alongside every Seahawks fan I know. Baby sister included, and she is a HUGE Seahawks fan.
"Fun" you say? Nothing says "Fun" like having your brand new football stadium burned to the ground - think "Battle in Seattle" was hot? That would be a campfire in comparison. I have not talked to "ONE PERSON" who would welcome Vick to Seattle. (other than those who do not live here) --

May 19, 2009  08:30 PM ET

Okay - Rant is over - welcome back to Atlanta Vick.

Tim does not care about character. There are numerous players he has with character issues.

May 19, 2009  11:23 PM ET

According to Commissioner Goodell: "It is important that the NFL be represented consistently by outstanding people, We hold ourselves to higher standards of responsible conduct because of what it means to be part of the National Football League."
If Vick is this outstanding person who has higher standards, I sure would hate to see lower standards.
Vick has paid his debt to society and has every right to earn a living, but has he earned the right to make that living in the NFL, to earn millions of dollars, and be some young boys hero and roll model?
The sad truth is if Goodell reinstates Vick he is essentially saying short of a Life sentence in prison or the Death penalty an Athlete who still has some talent can and will play in the NFL.

May 20, 2009  01:04 AM ET

The NFL, MLB, NBA, and most likely NASCAR, all owe Vick for not snitching.

BWAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAAA ............ I laugh in your general Di-Rection ..... (eastward)

Please elaborate - You know Tim Ruskell quite well do you?
I suppose you know every Seahawk and their life issues?
I didn't realize anyone on the Great Coast of the East even knew the Seahawks were alive and well - much less follow them so closely they even know what issues the players have.
Nobody over that way even knew the Seahawks were good enough to get to the SB.
Kudos to you bub.
BTW - Paul Allen still owns the team, not Tim Ruskell .... what players are you talking about anyway and just how many (numerous) are there?
I'd like to see names since you're so close to "Tim" you obviously have knowledge nobody else has.

May 22, 2009  02:59 PM ET

let him be someone eles's problem, its not a risk worth taking, someother teams in our division might be interested though

May 22, 2009  03:02 PM ET

lets get a replacement in next years draft, not vick whom is not really a good qb, and would not fit our system

May 22, 2009  03:44 PM ET

He's not a good fit for the "present" system.
Mora coached the guy from 04 through 06 and was the coach who went to the playoffs with Vick. Wallace is a Vick-style QB. Mora may be comfortable using Vick as Wallaces back-up instead of Charlie Frye or Mike Teel. Never know with a new coach. All things above considered, it makes sense.
