i just don't understand everyone freaking out about this whole QB thing all the panthers need to do is look around and see that MATT MOORE IS THE FUTURE!

It will pay off in the end. Jake needed to know the club still had confidence in him. He is a QB that controls the game and at times is brilliant in his play making skills. He was 12-4 coming off elbow surgery. Yes he tried to force it against Arizona and their defense played a career game against him. It want happen again. They have the 2nd hardest schedule and not the year to be changing QB's. The Panthers also need cap space due to the selfishness of Julius " I'll take this game off" Peppers. It was the right move.
I agree 100% with Cowboy_a17. Jake had a great year coming off of his Tommy John surgery. I have also said that it wasn't JUST Jake who lost the game against Arizona. It was the whole TEAM. The defense couldn't shut down Fitzgerald and the Arizona offense while Jake was pretty much forced to pass throw the ball because the running game couldn't get going after that first drive. Jake didn't really have no protection in the pocket either. In my opinion he only threw two interceptions even though he threw five. His last three interceptions were all forced throws in he was just trying to make something happen and keep the Panthers alive for one more game. The Panthers made the right move by keeping Jake. O, and Panthers2008, Matt Moore might be the future but he isn't right now. He is still young and needs to learn some more and THEN maybe he can take Jake's place when he is finished. I like Moore too, but right now is not the time for Matt Moore. Good move Panthers.

Yea, because Delhomme's SIX turnovers weren't that big of a deal. Are you guys serious? Yes, Jake recovered well and had some good games, but when it mattered he didn't just choke - he lied down and gave the ball up half a dozen times. All that money and Jake has not done anything that this caliber of team is supposed to do. And that includes the supporting cast being responsible for doing what they are paid for. What I'm saying is that we've got a good team, O-line, receiver (right now), RB's (finally! x2!) and a mediocre QB. For some reasons everyone is an eternal optimist when it comes to Jake. After games where he throws into blatant double coverage or where the safety is playing loose the media seems to give him a (constant) pass and just looks at the good (if there is any that game).
I love the panthers but I don't see 3 years left in Jake!
Which Jake do you think you are going to get more often than not? The one who threw 6 picks in against Arizona or the one who threads the needle as time expires to get the W against San Diego. I would go with the latter.

Sooner or later defenses will realize every deep throw Jake makes will be 4 yds behind the receiver and no longer get suprised when steve smith and co. break off their deep routes and come back to the ball. Jake doesn't have the timing or arm to pull off home run throws and constantly leaves the ball high on short routes. This ='s Turnovers! Frankly I'm surprised Jake hasn't had more 3+ turnover games yet. Shoulda picked up Matt Cassel!!
I would like to make it clear, I like Jake personally. He has great enthusiam for the game. Having said that, he fumbles way too much because he holds the ball too low. I also believe Steve Smith makes him look good. Many of Jake's passes are thrown up for grabs and fortunately for him, Steve Smith manages to come down with them. The Panthers organization is out of touch with reality to offer Jake that much money.

Damn straight . . . I'm surprised half the league didnt jump at aquirin' Cassel .

Is it any wonder that Scott Pioli saw the value in a guy who in his first meaningful football competition since high school ...threw almost twice as many tds as Ints (21-11 )
Jake almost threw half that many in one game
All Cassel did was get consistantly better each and evry week until by seasons end...there wasn't a Qb out there that was playing at a higher level ....PERIOD .
Jake is a good guy and I wish him well - but it's bafflin' that the Panthers would rather of held onto their 2nd rounder than aquire a potential franchise Qb .

Man u said a mouth full.....I totally agree...Furthermore, there are only a few qb's in the league can play at a high level after the age of 34 and I dont think Jake has it....I really dont understand this organization u want to franchise Peppers and sign Delhomme who is on the edge of his career? hmmm speaks in volume about this franchise
Monumentally, the stupidest move in professional football history. Never has a qb choked as bad as Delhomme against the Cards. 6 t/o's, my God, and this has been going on for years. His play has deteriorated year after year. He peaked during the Super Bowl season. He should change his name to Choke Delhomme. He has been blessed with great players that keep him from sucking even more. Look for an 8-8 team at best this year. I will take a Michael Vick with a pit bull attached to his butt over a health Delhomme. I will not attend or watch a Panthers game unless nothing else is on or there is nothing else to do, like clean the oven or scrub the toilet. This on top of the Pepper's fiasco? Have they hung the "jeenyusses at werk" sign on the front office door? They probably have bankrupted the franchise. If they are going to throw that kind of cash around , why not make it count.

fellas fellas dont look at the now look at the later.. What if after the season and the draft is upon us what if Carolina picks up Tebow in the 2nd rd. He wouldn't pay divedends immediatly but work with him for a yr or 2. By that time Jake will retire or spend his last yr doin the same thing Drew Bledsoe in Dallas did for romo. He'll by that time have developed enough to go under center and a twin rb shotgun formation would be a scary look to any defense ( D.Williams, Tebow, J.Stew). This could be twice as big as Atlanta's "DVD" attack a few years back and besides Tebow has an infectious winning attitude about him...and what team doesnt want that in a qb
