NFL  > New York Giants  > My Plan to revolutionize The nfl MUST READ BLOG

Ok so I have been a giants fan for almost 20 years now. I first watch them as an eight year old the year they won the superbowl (xxv 1990) Love the team and the game but the nfl has not made any major changes in this time. As relates to the schedule. Here is what I propose.

Only three preason games
teams do not have to cut down to 55 players until after week 1
all game 1 will be games place outside their conference
18 regular season games
Two bye weeks
the last two weeks will all be division games 1 home 1 away ( will make the last few games exciting)
If you are 9 -9 you do not make the play offs no matter what. The team that would have played you gets a bye. You must be over .500 to make the playoffs
if you you are 13-5 and you are not one of the top 6 teams in the conference you are still in. the number 2 seed has to play you. if there are two team like that then the number 1 seed plays you
if you win the divison but do not have a better record then the other team you still get the higher seed but play on their turf

so what do you guys think. Out of the box I know. But way more exciting and much better for the game I think

what if a "doomsday" scenario happens and there are two 9-9 teams or three 13-5? I assume that rule is there because of the Pats and Chargers. I don't like the 9-9 rule. If you win the division/wild card, go to the playoffs! Dont punish some one just because the competition was weak. But i like your idea of finishing with a divisional game.

if there are two 9-9 teams then the number three and the number four seeds get a bye. three 13-5 teams then the top two (bassed off tie breakers ) get in and then there would be one 13-5 teams out. As much as i do not like the patriots I just do not think it was good for the game of football that 12-4 was good enough for the number one seeed in the nfc but 11-5 does not make the playoffs. Also the charges were 8-8 and get to host the 11-5 colts. I just think the nba and mlb do a much better job in making sure the best teams get in. I know there will never be a perfect system but it seems right now the current system is very imperfect

interesting. I like the 18 game schedule although I think players will want to be paid more. also think that the teams with top records should make the playoffs irregardless of division winners. Sorry but a 12-4 team, then 2, 10-6 teams in one division should beat out a 9-7 team in a another even if they did win their divsion. what do you think Goddell...you out there?
