NFL  > Denver Broncos  > How stupid is josh mcdaniles?
May 9, 2009, 02:03 PM
right before the draft i thougt to my self, even though McDaniles screwed everything up so far maby if he has a good draft he can still get the broncos on the right path. with the 12th pick of the NFL draft the broncos pick knoshown moreno? has anybody els noticed that the broncos now have 9 running backs on the roster? Can anybody explain to me why mcdaniels is so obsessed with running backs, and why he thinks its more important to fix the number 2 ranked offense than to fix the number 29 ranked defence?

Dude, run your posts through spell check if you want to start a message board. I have a hard time accepting your stance of claiming McDaniels is "stupid" when you can't spell "maybe" or "else" or "thought" or "defense". You could even start by spelling the guy who your claiming is "stupid" name correctly, it's McDaniels, not McDaniles. Before claiming that he is "stupid" run it through spell check, then I can assume that your an intelligent individual who is concerned that a head coach in the NFL is "stupid".

As for your claim that McDaniels is ignorant (it's a bigger word for stupid, or someone who doesn't know what he's doing), he hasn't even coached a game yet. For every claim that he is "stupid", you will just have to swallow your words if everything does in fact work out and he is successful. Better yet, your probably the arrogant type that will be right back on this message board singing his praises when it does work out. Give the guy a chance and try supporting the team. Otherwise, leave your negative attitude and ridiculous posts to yourself. At least that way you can keep your pride.

This is why coaches don't last as long as they used to. The guy hasn't even coached a SNAP yet and his team's fans are running him out on a rail. Give the guy a chance. I don't know if you've been paying attention, but the guy does know his offenses, having coordinated the most successful one in history. Save the mouth-breathing, angry villager rants for AM radio.

May 10, 2009  03:38 AM ET

yes, I bet Josh can at least spell his own name

May 10, 2009  07:33 AM ET

Duuuuuuur HI My name is Pat Bowlen and I want to hire a punk kid Coach, let him run a muck disassembling my Franchise, alienating one of the most loyal fan bases in all of football, and then act like i was surprised. 9 Running backs would work if you were the Miami Dolphins who run the wild cat and label everyone for the same position, but I can almost bet one team has had 9 RB's since the invent of the forward pass!

May 10, 2009  09:16 AM ET

You keep bringing up having 9 backs on the roster..... This is May! I can assure you that there will NOT be 9 on the roster when the season starts. This team has had a problem finding an everydown back for years now and bringing a bunch of guys to camp to compete is a good thing. Lay off the Coach till he at least has a chance to prove himself...... Its funny how fans always think they know better than the professionals how to run a team....

May 10, 2009  01:57 PM ET

I'm not a big supporter of McHoodie either, but I will not judge him until I have at least a full season of football to backup an argument either way...

May 10, 2009  07:51 PM ET

If your so much smarter than McDaniels, why aren't you the coach?

Good idea...anyone got Bowlen's number...?

What has he done for the Bronco's Defense one of the worst in the past few years in the NFL. What Pass Rushers has McDaniels gotten for the team? What has he done to help the Broncos not be run over by Larry Johnson, LT and McFaddin this year? And any ok running back in the NFL?

9 Running backs? Come on. He traded talent in Cutler for Kyle Orton. The backup Chris Simms, the quarterback that seems to be falling apart at a young age physically signed a contract having him paid more than Cutler, who carried Denver on his back for two years.

Nothing, you talk about the Bell-cheat system. Well name one coach that has left New England to successfully head coach a NFL team? None of them. McDaniels is more concerned about his face time on TV than he has been coaching the Broncos. Everything that Al Davis accused Lane Kiffen was doing, McDaniels is already doing it and he has not coached his first game.

McDaniels has not done one thing so far that has impressed me as a fan of the Broncos for 30 years. He has made some of the worst choices and done some of the biggest mistakes I have ever seen in this franchise's history.

San Diego is cheering right now because Denver has fallen apart under one kid coach not old enough to shave. We needed someone to build a defense and keep the offense mostly intact. That is what smart coaches, do. Hall of Fame coaches do. Coaches that win Super Bowls.

Mike Tomlin came into Pittsburgh fixed what did not work and kept what worked together. His team got better and his second year he won a Super Bowl. McDaniels goes in rips apart the NFL's 3rd best offense changing it all over the place and leaving a failed, the weak point of Denver alone.

Dark days for us Broncos fans. Dark days.

If you can point out one decision that McDaniels has done right for the Broncos. Point it out. I already know the answer and so do you.

Denver is doomed.

May 10, 2009  09:03 PM ET

McDaniels is not stupid!! IT IS CALLED NEW ENGLAND ARROGANCE!!!

May 10, 2009  09:14 PM ET

Well for all Denver fans sake I hope he fares better than the other Belichick disciples of Mangini, Crennel, Weis and Saban.

Eric Mangini, virtually disowned by Belichick after he left New England to become coach of the Jets, who fired him after last year ??? after which he was hired by Cleveland to replace Crennel.

Romeo Crennel, fired after last season as coach of the Browns with a four-year record of 24-40 and zero playoff appearances.

Charlie Weis, who, after getting off to a fine start his first two years at Notre Dame, has lost more games (15) over the last two seasons than any coach in any other two seasons in the school???s proud football history.

Nick Saban, an assistant under Belichick with the Browns, who became coach of the Miami Dolphins after winning a national championship at LSU in 2004, only to go running back to the college ranks in 2007 after going 6-10 in his second season as coach of the Dolphins.

Eric Mangini has not been a success has he? Crennel certainly was not.

Weis could lose his job after this season.

I said New England not Cleveland and Saban failed in Miami. College football, there has been no National Champion yet in College Football. I do not believe in that broken system. BCS is another topic all together.

Overall you proved my point Denver is hosed.

May 10, 2009  10:09 PM ET

GSH Bears1, I see Superbowl for your team in the future. Cutler was a steal.

May 10, 2009  10:35 PM ET

Ok McDaniels wanted his player Cassel on his team but FAILED to do so. But here's my question to him: If it ain't broke ... why fix it?

Jay Cutler was NOT disgraceful. In fact, it was his defense that lost the games for Denver.

So then Cutler decided to ignore calls from his boss and coach. Pretty immature of him. What he could have done is shown up and played. He could have shoved it right back in McDaniels' face ... with WINS. I mean, Jay had it good in Denver. That offense was made for him.

And Pat Bowlen has got to be blamed as well for not stepping in PROPERLY. He could have went to Nashville and talked to Cutler. Would that have killed him?

Now, it's over. No sense in calling people stupid or continue placing blame. Until we see the Bears' and Broncos' respective records for 2009 ... then we can really debate who was stupid in this entire mess.

And trust me, I'm an expert on this. ;)

Dude. They haven't played a single game. Quit whining. His record as Broncos coach? 0-0. I pray that Denver goes 12-4 and wins the division so moron fans like yourself have to remove the foolish egg from all over their faces. How many times did Cutller lead the Broncos to the playoffs? How many times has he had a winning season....since High School. Get off of his nuts. Football is the ultimate TEAM sport, and only people that have a cookie cutter feel for the game (Take everything ESPN says, and regurgitate it back as your own opinion)say stupid stuff like this. If he goes 3-13 this season, fine bash him all you want. But I am pretty damn sure he knows more about running HIS football team than you do. So pipe down, be a good fan, think for yourself, and stop reciting an episode of NFL Live as your opinion.

You do not debate my points you throw insults. No facts. You think I get it from ESPN, if you knew me you would know how untrue that statement is.

You are right this is a team sport but if there is no D stopping the ball it does not matter. Cutler had some of the best numbers (I won my Fantasy Football League handedly because of him) of many of the QBs in the NFL.

Denver has nothing to speak for the Defense that has needed an overhaul for 4 years. I am not a blind fan and say hey this is perfect and that is perfect and nod my head with the Franchise. This is my money I spend to help support the team.

Mr. Bowlin if you are not aware of. Is ill, his mental attributes such as his short term memory is effected. He has been giving control more and more to other people after the McDaniels hire. Of course NFL Live has not been talking about that. I think he released it was a bad hire but he is stuck with it.

If we go 12-4 then I am glad throw that egg in face. I will happily take it. Sadly, I think Oakland will have a better season than us.

You do know there is a difference between "Head Coach" and "General Manager", right? You know, they have different job functions, and it's the responsibility of one of those guys to make personnel decisions, and the responsibility of the other to coach the team? Surely someone who so obviously thinks highly of their own opinion, like yourself, wouldn't let a silly fact like this get in the way of a mind-numbing and borderline stupid rant, would you?

May 11, 2009  11:44 AM ET

You are correct, as for give the guy a chance.......No you run off your teams Franchise QB and didn't draft according to your roster.

5 wins for Denver if they are lucky

Um its football man. They work closer together than in any sport with the coach making the final on field personnel decisions. And its pretty clear it was the feud with McDaniels not Xanders that lead to Cutler leaving town.

Anyway we'll end up finding out how dumb Xanders and McDaniels are the consensus right now is pretty dumb, no one else has EVER traded away a 25 year old Franchise/Pro Bowl QB, so its pretty clear what other G.M.'s and coaches think of doing so.

May 11, 2009  12:26 PM ET

He's pretty stupid, he has an NFL head coaching job and a better paycheck than other coaches with a 0 - 0 record, that pretty much makes him an idiot. But I expect "stupid" means something different when you live in Hays, KS.
