None of the other teams have players I think Jerry would explore getting. All this hinges on the fact that the Cowboys don't make the playoffs. I think the rules say playoff teams are only allowed to go after one free agent, so this might sound crazy but....LOOSE COWBOYS....LOOOOOOOSE!!!
A combination of any four of the players on this list would put the Cowboys in the Super Bowl in 2010.
Are there going to be that many free agents. Keep in mind that presently free agency starts at year 4. In '10 it will go to year 6. So all of the good players entering free agency this year have been signed to longterm contracts. When it goes up to 6, that will be older veteran player finishing their 2nd contract and don't have too many years left in the league, and players who have already entered free agency, and got a one or two year contract. So not exactly super stars.
You will have some castoffs who were cut, e.g., Roy Williams (S), and Terrell Owens, but again, players who didn't play up to expectations. I think if we can just keep our guys, we can be competitive.
The list I got my free agents from is based on NFL contracts as they stand right now. I made it strictly on availabilty at the moment. We both know that by the end of the year that some of these guys will receive new contracts. Majority of these guys will be franchised. The others will be RFA's.
Absolutely agree that if we keep our players that we can stay competitive. When I say get atleast four of these guys i'm thinking along the line of maybe Carlos Rogers and Greg Jennings. Not really keen on signing the bigger names because they require bigger contracts. Cant wind up like we did this year and be forced to bargain shop. Even tho they did a good job of it.
What I cant seem to find out are what the guidelines for this year will be. Heard one person say that all playoff teams will only be allowed to sign one free agent. That doesnt make very much sense tho. I know they have to have some kind of rules to keep Jerry, Daniel and Bob from signing all the players.

I think that is safe to say for half the teams in the league though, no?

Your right. I think this could work for every team in the league outside of Detroit and Oakland, and if Rivers is included in that then even these two would have a chance to make playoffs atleast.
An uncapped year would benifit the boys, aswell as Paul Allen and the Seattle Seahawks. Allen is one of the wealthiest men in America
