NFL  > New York Giants  > Is a Boldin trade still possible?
May 29, 2009, 12:15 AM
I caught a few stories about Boldian sacking "No-Comment" Rosenhaus who I don't care for in general, and was wondering if trading for him might be a good idea based on his performance for future draft picks, and wanted to see what other thought.

I don't like the fact he has missed 20 games due to injury, and since LF arrived in AZ, he has really become a second receiver there, and his stats have been dimishing over the last 3 years, let alone not ebing a deep threat. Yes, yes, tough as nails, I got it. Size. I get it. I think he would be a great addition from an experience standpoint but feel he would not fit in the game plan. I prefer Steve Smith to Bolding long-term, call me crazy.

I still feel B Edwards was and is the better option. For all the people that talk about his drops last year, I say two words: Jerry Rice. Anyone remember what his rookie year was like? I do, and it was not pretty at all. And no, I don't think BE will ever be JR, but the point is players change, just like Thomas Jones did when he got to Chicago, after flaming out in AZ. Yes, yes, Edwards is entering (correct me if I'm wrong) his fifth season, and had a down year last year, which I attribute to bad QB play as I've said before, and Schereth and T Hasselback also said was a likely contributor to the problem.

So anyway, I think waiting and seeing how thongs turn out during training camp would be the way to go, or offering up a pick package based on performance, but nothing amounting to more than a 1 and a 3, though I think Bolding is not worth a 1 and 3... Your thoughts?

I don't think either is worth a 1st & 3rd. Edwards only has one year left on his contract. That is a high price for 1 year. I would offer no more than a 2nd & 5th. Boldin is a very good WR but not worth a 1st & 3rd. This 1st & 3rd is based on what Dallas overpaid for Roy Williams. The teams found no buyers before or during the draft. If these guys are traded it will be for less than originally requested. Hopefully, the Giants will get Edwards.

Agree with G-Men3. Most teams were scared off these two by what they may want after their contracts are up (Boldin isn't waiting for even that, he wants it now, so he'd be a headache from day one if he became a Giant tomorrow morning) I do agree our chances of being in SB 44 would be greatly enhanced by signing either one, but both come with some question marks. Reese and the coaches will see how our current WR's plus Nicks and Barden will turn out before they pull the trigger on either of these guys.

I think I will trade one bolden thread for eliminating the last TL thread from the first page.

Good trade.

It just does not appear to be Reese's GM style. He would rather have the draft picks and spread the money around to have depth on the team. Until he ever makes a trade of note, I just do not see it..

i think that the giants did a good thing in the draft . they wanted to much for those WRS. and you dont know how long they will last . with the rookies you can get some years out of them

You better find someone to replace Burress. Eli can't do **** without a deep threat

If they were really desperate, they would have got the deal done with Edwards or Boldin... They got who they wanted in the draft and they will go from there... There was no desperation, Just curious to see what the browns wanted in return and the price was to high, Boldin price was really high and not worth it

It's Eli's job in camp to find his guy and he will...QB makes the Receiver, Receiver never makes the QB!!!

players come and go all the time. sometimes there replacement is way better, sometimes they suck lol.

The Giants don't tend to trade for big name players at the skill positions.
Nor do they sign many as free agents.
Last one I can recall is Burress.
There's normally a reason why these guys are available other than their current teams being too cheap to sign them - they're either past their prime or they come with baggage (e.g. they lack some interpersonal skills).

The free agent signings the giants do make tend to be on defense and the O line, where they can find solid role players that maybe don't fit their current team's scheme.
