NFL  > Denver Broncos  > ESPN had a nice piece on Brandon Marshall and how he likes to beat up women
June 1, 2009, 01:08 AM
If you watch the piece, it is clearly evident that the Broncos and the NFL tried to sweep the whole thing under the rug.

The following has been pasted from ESPN's site:

Marshall posted a $300 bond and was released. This was the fourth arrest for Marshall since March 2006. He was suspended for three games last season for repeatedly running afoul of the law -- Marshall's suspension stemmed from seven police-related incidents with his former girlfriend, Rasheedah Wately.

But he had his punishment reduced to a single game when he pledged to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that he would stay out of trouble.

Marshall, 24, now potentially faces a longer suspension to start the 2009 season, perhaps as much as eight games, which is the punishment other players have received for repeatedly getting into trouble off the field.

Marshall denies EVER touching his girlfriend, so I guess the stab wound and bruises to her face were self-inflicted.

I hope they ban him forever. I have NO use for a woman beater.

You know... the Raiders wouldn't be half bad if they stayed true to their tradition and signed all of the misfits from the league. I mean just look at who they could have on their team.

QB: Michael Vick

RB: Larry Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, Travis Henry

WR: Plaxico Burress, Brandon Marshall, Terrell Owens, Chris Henry...
And the rest of the Cincinatti Bengals.

I mean seriously, how would this team be any worst than their fat "mobile" quarterback and all of the other members of the Al Davis Gang? They're all overpaid, overrated and underachieving neverbeens that Chief fans look forward to beating twice this season.

First of all, there are points that haven't been shared and won't be shared until the trial. The broncos are not responsible for Marshall, they can only give him access to treatment if it's deemed he needs it. The young lady wasn't exactly lighting a "fuse" of being a victim and why was she on tv in the first place? If she wants to move on like she said, then you don't need the public to do so. There's also no attorney needed. In short, this entry isn't really fair because we don't know what happened and probably never will. He is being found "GUILTY" because of the media and who knows if she's being completely honest? In short, LEAVE BMARSH ALONE AND LET THE COURTS HANDLE IT.

Wow, I posted a comment a hile ago but it looks like it never got posted so here it goes again:

Yeah I watched the interview. The guy is guilty as sin but wants us to believe he isn't. Anyone watching that interview could tell he was nervous and also lying through his teeth. Yeah, the woman wants money, but Marshall beat the crap out of her on a regular basis so I guess she deserves a check.

June 2, 2009  03:30 PM ET

First off, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty in this country? Nobody really knows what went on, so until there is a trial and he is found guilty everyone should stay out of his business. He's been quiet all last year and even the beginning of this one, so he's learning his lesson and cleaning his act up.

Everyone is being really unfair and the media and this woman are playing the "innocent girl" card. Cut him some slack and let the courts handle it.

June 2, 2009  03:31 PM ET

Also, the only other reason this thing aired and there's interest is because the Broncos have had a controversial offseason, so continuing something along the lines of the team is a sure-shot for television ratings.

Read between the lines people.

June 2, 2009  04:16 PM ET

Yeah the "innocent girl" card. Possibly, but that still doesn't change the fact that the guy is lying. He knows it, the man conducting the interview knew it, and the whole world also knows it. Sure, let him plead his case to an unbiased jury, that's the right way to prove guilt or innocence BUT- I'm not a jury member and neither are you. Therefore, we can speculate all we want and it has nothing at all to do with "innocent until proven guilty". That's the legal systems motto, not the American citizens. Our motto seems to be "speculate and trash talk until proven wrong". Anyway the guy is guilty. If you watched that interview, then deep down you'd agree with me.

He's already going to trial, it's schedule for June.

Look, it's clear that this girl freaked out at every possible chance she could just because she knew she could get money. But you're telling me that she dealt with this for 3 years? Give me a break. No woman in her right mind would spend 3 years with someone who "stabs" her. Unless of course, she was in it for the money. But from all of those incidents it looks to me that any time there was an argument she would call. But yet she would drop the charges right away. Oh, and stay with him. Oh yeah, and request hundreds of thousands of dollars from him personally through his lawyer.

Give me a break. I'm sure the two had a history of violent arguments, but most of this stuff just doesn't check out. If you're getting constantly abused, why would you stay with this person, why would you drop the charges, and why would you request money from him?

June 2, 2009  05:40 PM ET

I personally know people who have been in abusive relationships for way more than 3 years. It's hard to understand why a person will stay in that situation but it happens every day with alot of people. Also you obviously haven't seen the piece they did on this story- otherwise you'd almost certainly be thinking he is guilty.

June 2, 2009  05:44 PM ET

I also know women who stayed in relationships just for money, so I won't say she wasn't in it for the money either. But the point is, judging from the ESPN piece which showed interviews of both of them- the guy beat her. On numerous occasions. I believe that he's lying when he says he didn't. His story was really, really sketchy.

June 3, 2009  03:43 PM ET

With all do respect the interview with his ex was staged and planned out, whereas he was put on the spot in a live interview, so I don't think there can be a fair conclusion until both of them are interviewed live in front of an audience, or in court.
