NFL  > Cleveland Browns  > Mangini's bus ride angers Browns rookies
June 1, 2009, 10:53 AM
Cleveland Plain Dealer reporter Mary Kay Cabot firmly stands by her story that former Jets coach Eric Mangini really gave the Browns rookies no choice in the matter when they "voluntarily'' took a 10-hour bus trip to work at his charity football camp in Hartford, Conn., Saturday. The Browns are in damage control, saying Mangini, who'll ride the bus back with players, didn't twist the players' arms. But again, Cabot told me she spoke with agents and family members of the 19 players and all are livid. In fact, the league and NFLPA are reportedly looking into the matter to see if Mangini violated any rules.

Newark Star-Ledger

This reminds me of Gilligan's Island, only Kokinis is the new Skipper and Mangini is Gilligan. A 10-hour bus ride! LOL, and they wonder why no one wants to play there.

This is just another of the signs that mangini doesn't have any of the qualities desirable in any leader or coach. He uses his players, hurts his new team in order to help his old team, and cleans out your most talented player and threatens to trade your only other offensive threat because he "can't handle" any personality conflicts. Well then you picked the wrong job. I just hope the front office doesn't make us suffer through 3 seasons again before they finally figure out they've got the wrong guy.

The Rookies didn't have to go, But they did and did a good thing in helping kids at a football camp. All you naysayers only want to point out anything that might be negative. I liked th emoves the new regime made. All you haters can go were the sun never shines!

Hey... welcome to the board! - You'll find there is really only one naysayer who spends all of his free time here. You know the pathetic type who gets more out of yapping at other teams than enjoying how his team is doing. Of course there are other people who come in here to make comments or debate us about what's going on with the Browns... but either they only have a one off comment or they actually have something intelligent to say... (in any case... way less pathetic than the one).

In any case, nice to see you...

Same coaching philosophy as another Belichick disciple up in Denver goes by the name McDaniels. A military coaching style does any of these sound familiar:
1) When the enemy is too strong to be attacked directly, then attack something he holds dear.
2) The idea here is to cause damage to the enemy by getting a 3rd party to do the deed.
3) A plain lie. Make somebody believe there was something when there is in fact nothing.
4) Charm and ingratiate yourself to your enemy. When you have gained his trust, move
against him in secret.
5) There are circumstances in which you must sacrifice short-term objectives in order to gain
the long-term goal.
6) Do something unnamed, but spectacular to provoke a response of the enemy thereby
giving away his plans.
7) If the enemy's army is strong but is allied to the commander then take aim at the leader. If
the commander falls the rest of the army will disperse.
8) Create confusion and use this confusion to further your own goals.
9) Mask yourself. Either leave flamboyant traits behind, thus going incognito; or just
masquerade yourself and create an illusion to fit your goals and distract others.
10) Hide behind the mask of a fool, a drunk, or a madman to create confusion about your
intentions and motivations.
There are about 35 classic military approaches in all and the Belichik coaching tree impliments all of them in one way or another. McDaniels clearly used several of these approaches when it came to the Cutler Fiasco.

Did the Browns front office lust after Mangini after he was fired by the Jets? Or did he actually have to "put in an application", so to speak?

Not to offend anyone, but Mangini never really impressed me at all. He had the so called feud with Bellicheat, which I only heard about, so I'm not too familiar with it, but did hear he was once the water boy of NE. Why would the front office bother with Mangini, especially if he was run out of town by the Jets? I know there must have been more experienced coaches available?

Bull,What's wrong with you? You mean to tell me that you don't want to live in Cleveland where you can dress up like a ten year old child on Halloween, go sit in sub freezing temperatures where your team is 1-19 against their rivals and yell, "GO TEAM, YEAH?" I just can't believe that doesn't appeal to you. LOL.

*laffin*......no, I'll pass on that. I'm too used to the Texas humidity. If I had to do a winter up there, I'd have to hibernate.

The wife and I just got back from Illinois tho. Does that count?

Suck it up rookies. Stop whining.

Lebron=gone (stupid name) and Keith (Bshirt another dumb name) you both seem to spend an awfully long time on Cleveland sports. Obviously it must be because you wish you lived here. I guess Cleveland won't have either of you. Those that continually have negative comments on a team that they should otherwise have no real interest in shw that they really wish they could live there also. There must be some reason you can't. So we all understand your frustrations and will not take your comments seriously. Please get new names. You both sound ridiculous in your comments and in your names.

I guess Cleveland won't have us then. Our loss.

One thing, tho. I want you to prove to me where I have been derogatory to your team. I can't speak for "LeBron", but I have yet to be negative to your team or any team for that matter. OR FANS. So, prove it Einstein. The closest I came to anything was about the weather and hibernating. So, pray tell, ERS11, how is that "being negative" to the Browns? Go ahead and read my archives, ye who is of little knowledge and big on assumptions and accusations..........PROVE it. One comment to your name, and you're a "veteran blogger". I bet you have no clue as to where my archives are, do you? Got your information hidden. Ashamed of yourself?

If you wish to get insulting, then you best come armed, instead of the garbage you just spewed. Insulting our names, and then assuming that I "continually have negative comments on a team that they should otherwise have no real interest in"................how do you know I have no interest in the Browns? Assuming.

Prove it, as I said, or disappear. One or the other.
