June 2, 2009  03:00 AM ET

this is how i think it's Peterson- you might think it's crazy.

1.) i believe the best athletes are football players
2.) i believe the best athletes in football are running backs
3.) i believe the best athlete at running back is Adrian Peterson.

Please dont say Tiger isnt an athlete, he is definitely an athlete. He is the clutchest athlete alive right now.

June 2, 2009  06:44 PM ET

I believe the best athletes are Hockey players and that would go to Nicklas Lidstrom.

June 2, 2009  06:55 PM ET

Fat out of shape lineman get my vote, to carry round all that excess weight you have to be a great athlete. LOL j/k of course. Kobe in basketball, AP in football, and Pujols in baseball. Don't get much Hockey down here.

He's a great golf player and athlete but its different for Tiger, he competes against a golf course!

It depends on your definition of "athlete." Do they have to display sheer athleticism in their sport? Like burning a cornerback on a fly pattern, or dunking from the dotted line?

If you simply mean who is the best relative to their sport, then it has to be Tiger Woods. Kobe Bryant in basketball, Albert Pujols in baseball, Tom Brady in football, and Sidney Crosby in hockey. Probably still Rafael Nadal in tennis.

yes.. but idk what he meant by athlete, but tom brady is not as good as a physical athlete as Adrian Peterson.

The best athlete in the world is Luke Walton.

Seriously though, I'd say Either Usain Bolt or that gymnast Shawn Johnson.

a gymnastic, idts

June 11, 2009  05:38 PM ET

Is one for ya !

June 11, 2009  08:26 PM ET

What a question! I can't really give you one that would popped into my head because really we have so many sports and a lot of great great players not including in other parts of the world that would compared to our players to be considered the best player in sports.

But should we name a few.

1. Tiger Wooooood
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Michael Jordan
4. LaBron James
5. Albert Pujols
6. Sidney Crosby
7. Johan Santana
8. Tom Brady
9. Rafael Nadal
10. Alex Rodriguez
11. Derek Jeter
12. Ervin Majic Johnson

Oops got carry away, some won't agree with some of my players and its undersandable, I have plenty to add to this list. I haven't even started with the oversea players. So if you would like to add to my list enjoy.

The best "pure" athlete in sports today is probably Carl Crawford. This guy had scholarship offers from three different major universities for the three top sports.

Agreed. I am from Texas (not much hockey here) but hockey players are the tops

What the hell does that mean?

And I said she was a gymnast, not a gymnastic, you satchel of urine.

Carl Crawford, would easily be starring in the NFL if he hadn't chosen baseball.

yes, i forgot about him but don't forget LeBron was an All american in high school at tight end. his basketball talent is off the charts but he could be playing in the nfl at tight end considering his size and quickness. he ran a 4.4 in the forty, very few NFL players can do that.
but great choice with Crawford from both you and focus rooster
