Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany has made it clear his conference does not intend to add a 12th team anytime soon, but that hasn't stopped Penn State top dog Joe Paterno from clamoring for expansion. To humor JoePa and help these dreary offseason months pass more quickly, SI.com's Andy Staples has presented and examined three possibilities for conference realignment. Staples conceded few conference members will want to split the conference revenue pie with even more teams, but insists expansion could mean a bigger pie for everyone and could quiet some of the staunchest playoff proponents.
