I don't think it'll be too long before we see the Cardinals make a move...

Make no mistake, Jess Todd's callup was not merely a matter of Boyer being ineffective. Mozeliak is eager to see just how much pitching depth he has to deal from. You can't tell me that if Todd comes up and does well, Moz wouldn't feel a lot better about dealing off Perez or Motte to Cleveland in exchange for DeRosa...

I still think we all agree that the Cardinals greatest depth lies in the Outfield. With Ankiel, Ludwick, Duncan, Rasmus, Robinson, and Stavinoha (not to mention Thurston, Schumaker, and Mather), the Redbirds have plenty of trade chips to toss around this year.

But what do they go after? Is a DeRosa type really going to get us through the rest of the season? Is buying low on a guy like Garrett Atkins (with the hope he'll raise his .192BA) really a safe bet?

I'm just not sure if I see any "sure things" out there at 3B. Sure, I wouldn't "mind" seeing the Cards pick up DeRosa (at least it'd be better than doing what they did last year...which was nothing). But it's still not the type of move that makes me say "Now we're talking. World Series here we come!"

No, that kind of move would have to involve a name like Cain, or Peavy, or even Oswalt.

But the point is, the Cardinals haven't just decided to bring up Todd for fun. Mozeliak is up to something...hopefully it's something good.
