St Louis Die Hards  > Group Message Board  > Does Competition for Positions Have Limits
June 10, 2009, 08:05 PM
I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that competition for positions has a positive life span of a few months. After that the constant stress and uncertainty starts to drag down performance for the players.

I'm also deciding that since Ludwick can't win an everyday job, he needs to be traded. He's been in a funk every since he realized his performance will not win him a place in the lineup every day. I think it's gotten into his head to the point it's affecting his ability to produce.

Does anyone else think some of the contrived competition is beginning to weigh this team down? Pressing too hard is one of the worst things you can do as a player. How do you not press when you might sit for a week after a bad game?

Is the extreme competition where only two players on the team have a sure job a sugar high that only lasts so long before burning out.
