NFL  > Denver Broncos  > The Broncos are more dysfunctional than the Raiders

I predict the Broncos to finish last in the AFC West this year. It seems that firing Shanahan wasn't a very good idea after all.

The NFL will implode on itself if the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders end up better off than the Denver Broncos this year. Here's one positive for the Broncos, their defense is healthy, experienced, and hungry - so expect Denver's D to keep them in games this year.

June 16, 2009  04:14 PM ET

That's crazy talk...theey will finish no worse than 8-8

June 16, 2009  04:15 PM ET

last year

Jay Cutler 8-8

Kyle Orton 9-7

Are you sure you are talking about Denver's D? Last year's unit was one of the worst in franchise history. I guess Dawkins will help a little...

the broncos are done. they went 8-8 last year with a pro bowl qb controlling the offense...what do you think will happen when orton, the same guy that couldn't win the starting qb job over rex (until last season) takes over?! the broncos don't have a running game and now they have to deal with marshall. it's really going to suck for you this year if you're a broncos fan.

June 16, 2009  08:28 PM ET

The broncos have mostly new offensive and defensive coaches. They have a ton of new players. Several of their established players are playing new positions. They have only had a limited amount of practice in training camp on new and difficult terminology. Two of their top players from last year aren't in camp. Their coach may be a genius but he doesn't play a down! How is it that they are going to be much good? Fan stands for fanatic and you would be a lunatic to think they are anywhere near the top of the Division.

June 18, 2009  12:54 AM ET

The Broncoas front office brought this on themselves. There doesn't seem to be enough experience to handle anything. He could've hired Josh (I don't have a problem with it) ,but he miscalculated how important the GM is to the team.

June 18, 2009  02:07 AM ET

now only a day after saying they wouldn't trade marshall they're going to trade him. marshall for braylan edwards is what they're saying...that's a pretty good trade for the broncos except that edwards can't catch! he's not a trouble maker though so barring injury they should have him the whole year. just because josh mcdaniels was a good OC doesn't mean it will translate to him being a good coach. if i had to grade him thus far i would give him an F-. i bet shanahan will enjoy watching the broncos this year.

NO ONE is more dysfunctional than the Raiders

The Broncos will lose to the Redskins in Super Bowl LXXI.

just sit back and watch. surprisingly there has been no news out of raiders camp while every other day you hear about another denver player that wants to leave. what was brian dawkins thinking?!....should have been a raider buddy

June 19, 2009  06:54 PM ET

all you broncos 'fans' if that is what you want to be called, should shut up and do your homework. Yes, Orton only went 9-7 last year, however, the Bears Defense gave away three games last year. If they don't lose those games, their record would have been 12-4.

Also, Orton was never given a chance to win the starting job because Lovie thinks he HAS to back his chosen starting QB, otherwise, he apparently thinks he will be questioned. (shouldn't all coaches be questioned anyway).

If McDaniels can get the Defense improved, even just slightly better than last year, (Dawkins and Bailey on the same field, where are opposing offenses supposed to throw?) the Broncos will contend for their division. Orton is a smart, durable, effecient QB. He won't lose games for you, and put in the right spot, will win those games. Look what McDaniels did with a QB who hadn't started since High School. Imagine what he will be able to do with an established veteran like Orton....

GO BEARS!

There D....hmmmm I mean it has improved but they still need CB, LB and someone next to Hawkins...To bad a young Lynch isnt there anymore. I would be scared for anyone to catch the ball.....lol Detroit and Oakland ya who knows I mean the Lions might win 5 games oakland if Garcia stays healthy they might be a hidden contender.

I have to agree with you there...I still have love for Orton..I think the Bronc's got a great QB..Your right he doesn't lose games...The Broncs will be fine...I just don't like that new coach for some reason ;-/ . .But its gonna be an interesting season.... DAAA BEARSSSS

kyle orton is a great qb?...he's average to above average if he's lucky. if he could only compile a 9-7 record with the bears (their defense even though it wasn't ridiculously good was far better than the broncos) there's no way denver has a chance to challenge for the afc west title. dawkins is a good player but their d-line sucks. they get no pressure on the qb so having a pro bowl cb and safety is pointless.

Absolutely right!!! I got the roman numeral by typing 2037 in a roman numeral translator. It was the highlight of my week :- (

June 20, 2009  10:01 AM ET

Actually what I did was put the current super bowl year and added 28 to it, then I tossed it in the translator. Why am I still explaining how I got a roman numeral?

I time traveled to 430 B.C. and strong-armed Socrates into telling me what the right letters were for Super Bowl 70. He gave me the info and I hopped back into my phone booth to notify George Carlin.

LMAO........good to know someone has a sense of humor about their team and the problems they have to suffer through. Not enough of that around here.........oh, I have met some fans who were weaned on lemons tho.
