This is the only article I've read that addressed his stupid comments.

The only comparison of Farve to Vince Lombardi - Vince Lombardi is dead, Farve is brain dead.
The difference - Lombardi died of natural causes - Farve simply shot off his mouth

Favre is the most overrated QB ever. He's good, but he averaged aroun 20 ints a season. And ofcourse your going to break the TD record when you play as many games as he did.

June 28, 2009  01:42 AM ET

It took Favre the same amount of time to break Marino's records as it did for Marino to set them. So lets not act like Favre played extra years to break the records.

June 29, 2009  01:17 PM ET

brett Favre played in 286 games. Marino played in 242 games. The difference is almost 3 seaons so dont worry i'm not acting guy.

June 29, 2009  05:33 PM ET

Maybe Favre will follow Bart Starr and try coaching the Packers after he gets finished with his yo yo'ing?

June 29, 2009  07:44 PM ET

Favre's actual stats
17 seasons
27 TD a season avg.
18 INT a season avg.
9 Fumbles a season avg.

So his average is
27 TD's season
27 Turnovers a season

I live in Vegas and we call that a 'push', you don't win and you don't lose.

In fairness though it's the ESPN monster that needs to be fed every off season that just will not let this story of a over the hill (once great QB) be. If they ignored him it would not a story.
It is not Brett that is breaking news it's ESPN.

Now it's Manny batting in the minor league that is being shown live (every-at-bat) on ESPN News, this is also not Manny's fault.

In recap, Brett Farve declares that he will be retiring, then without notcie decides to play for the Jets?!? Now he is wanting to play for the Vikings? when will it stop? Is he wanting to play every single team in the NFL before he finally gives up? Lombardi was a legend, Farve is just an over achiever

July 2, 2009  12:55 PM ET

He's an arrogant ass. I hope a 350 pound lineman lands right on top of him and breaks his ribcage. What a head case.

July 3, 2009  01:09 AM ET

Farve had a few good seasons, a couple great seasons..... but he will leave behind an ego and desire for revenge that will place him in the sewers. I hope the Packers decide not to retire his jersey, what he did in the past two years is enough to place an asterisk by his name. Too bad he did not have the integrity his wife shows

July 3, 2009  06:49 PM ET

all in all do Greenbay fans like Favre?

July 6, 2009  10:46 PM ET

Brett would be as big as Vince if he would have just retired "Period". You can't insult the Packer Nation, retire twice and then tell us and the world that you are going to the Vikings. If he does walk away from the game I will be satisfied with that. I spent may years rooting for him through his good and bad times, it's just like putting up that finger to the Fans who stood by him throughout the years. I can understand that he is sitll upset with Ted, most fans are. I was mad at both of them when this started. I'm a Packer fan first and if he goes to the dreaded Vikings I hope the Packers crush him. If he retires I will stand with him as a loyal fan.
Just say no to the Vikings!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About whether Packer fans still like Brett. I think a lot have been upset about the whole situation, and will not really "forgive" him for all that he put Wisconsin through. But in reality, he's really a good, maybe great quarterback. He did win a Superbowl, and he did win the MVP award outright twice and a third time in a tie with Barry Sanders. So that might put him in the great category. As a lifelong Packer fan, his going out really wasn't a whole lot different than Montana's in San Francisco, but Montana probably played it a little more mature. But Favre has never been mature, as far as on the field. He always played high risk/high reward. When his teams were good and could absorb the bonehead plays, the team won. When the team couldn't absorb the bonehead plays, they lost. He was a bit recklous on the field. But in the end, he was a great player, and I think that as time goes on, Wisconsin will love him just the same. Vince Lombardi coached the Redskins after the Packers, right?

August 15, 2009  05:48 PM ET

As always! People read to much into the what he was saying! Simply speaking! All he was trying to explain was how popular he is to the Packer nation, and Vince was just as popular That all! Not how much greater his influence was, compared to Vince! He was just showing a correlation between himself leaving and when Vince left. That all! NO comparison on the greatness between them!

And so say all of us.

Brett who?

August 18, 2009  08:33 PM ET

Haha!! I recall how much hatred the Packer fans had for Ted Thompson and support for Brett.....

Now the Packers fans are seeing his true color. The Packers had to do what they had to do to run a football team and plan ahead. You cannot run a football team when you QB/leader/face of the franchise cannot make up his mind.

All the Greenbay fans who trashed Ted Thompson owe him an apology!!!

August 18, 2009  09:51 PM ET

I just wonder how T. Jackson and S. Rosenfel will react to being back-up and 3rd string.....

August 19, 2009  12:51 PM ET

This is absolutely ridiculous. He never will be a Vince Lombardi. Brett has gone from being a hero, to someone we empathized with last year to a complete and total idiot. You can never deny is accomplishments. But his integrity and motives are truly something to be questioned. I believe he and the Minnesota Vikings deserve each other. I am glad the circus has left town.............

I hope big blimpin get **** by a truck, crushing his kegs, makingit impossible fo rhiom to work or walk again.

What...? You are wishing a crippling blow to a man who wants to play football. I am wishing you are crippled for life for being an Arse. Same thing.

Actually, most have a fond feeling for him. In 5 years, all will be forgotten but the glory years. Lest anyone forgets, Jim Mcmahon, the most hated bear in the last 30 years won a super bowl ring playing in ...Green bay. Years later, he is still considered a bear.
