AJ Burnett has got a lot of criticism since coming to the Yankees. Some believe the guy can only pitch in contract years, and others don???t believe he is worth the $82.5M they spent on him. On May 9th, AJ sat at a record of (W-L) 2-2 and had a 5.28ERA. People were down on him, but there is reason to think he has turned a corner.

In his last five starts, Burnett has compiled these numbers:

29IP (W-L) 3-2 25H 10R 7ER 17BB 32K 2.17ERA .231BA

Is that good enough for you guys? You can???t expect a guy to adjust right away to a new team and a new ballpark. The weather hasn???t even warmed up yet, and you never know what might happen. His career splits show that he has a 4.01 ERA in the first half, compared to a 3.71 second half ERA. So, is he a second half pitcher? He has better numbers in almost every stat category. We???ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
