NFL  > New England Patriots  > PEPPERS TO PATS WITHIN 48 HOURS ?
June 25, 2009, 01:57 AM
Now that PEPPERS is under contract ~ Will the PATS and PANTHERS get a deal hammered out ?
The wildcard here just may be VINCE WILFOLK .
Wolfolk is a true Patriot with a selfless work ethic ...but theres NO WAY the Pats will pay him anywhere near Market Value to extend his contract. The Patriots are a monolithic creation , run by the greatest all around football mind the NFL has seen since Halas. His teams epitomize STABILITY ... Belichick is in this for the long run and has shown many times in the past that he will not mortgage the future for quick returns today and it just doesn't make sense to break the bank for a 2 down NT. As much as I personally appreciate everything that Wolfolk has done for the Pats , it's pretty EZ to see the writing on the wall.
( You don't draft 3 wide bodies who can play Nose tackle - R Brace / M Pryor / D Richards - If you're planning on paying top 5 positional money to Wolfork ~ the minimum his agent is going to seek ).
I believe there are very NFL players that BB thinks are worthy of FU money... but I get the feeling that JULIUS PEPPERS is probably one of them.
That said , if a deal was struck for Peppers ( Wilfork & one of the Patriots three 2010 2nd rounders ? ) I'm not sure how the Pats would work out the cap space issue , my guess is it would depend on just how bad Peppers wants to improve his odds of getting a RING ( in other words ... massive paycut )
BOTTOMLINE : I gotta believe that the Pats D is better off with PEPPERS onboard with Brace / J Green /M Wright ( and possibly one of the other drafted rookies ? ) taking up the slack for the departed Wolfork .
My gut feeling is : If a PEPPERS TO PATS deal is gonna go down - it's probably gonna happen within the next 48 hours .

PATRIOTS ARE xxxxING THIEVES ! I'm sick of Belechek stealing players from other teams , Idiot Dolphins giving them Welker for a 2nd and 7th , Al "shoot-me-now " Davis dumping Randy Moss for a 4th . I'm form the Carolinas and local word is Peppers wants to be a Patriot bad - so I guess its possible he takes a discount to head north . I would suspect Coach Fox would perfer to keep him , but Panthers need players that WANT to be here so getting a player of Wilforks talents to play tackle , along with an early draft pick ...might actually save us a badly needed buck , and allow us to restock for the future .
( Wouldnt mind getting Seymore either -but he'd be pricier and from what I hear Pats dont want to move him )
GO PANTHERS !

Dolphins got fleeced . So have MANY of the NFLS other teams when it comes to trading with Patriots . Belichick abuses all the other teams GM's on a consistant basis . . . many of which have security issues and a NEED TO WIN NOW (or lose their job ) Mentality
( excluding Crazy Al Davis of course )
The Panthers Coach FOX seems to be in a situation where he has to win now.
(embarrassing playoff loss last year )

Might be a power sruggle thing going on in Carolina , at any rate it wouldnt surprise me to see the Patriots land Peppers-they have the ammo with those draft picks and can afford to give up other talent as well .

Pats should win at least 14 games this year .

June 25, 2009  02:47 AM ET

They better win at least 13 if they want a shot at surpassing the Steelers for home field in 2009
( Pittsburgh has a rediculously ez schedule and O line should improve this year ...they better improve or Big Ben is gonna be toast )

Vince Wilfork is an important piece to what the Pats do. Really it wouldn't be wise to let him go. Peppers doesn't want to be in Carolina. He's tying up a ton of money and the Panthers need to do something and fast. All of the lies coming from the front office of the Panthers is crap. They know that Julius does not want to play for them. They can afford to keep franchising him just to get something for him.

If the deal you are talking about goes through, expect Richard Seymour to be jettisoned.

I love you **** posters -- the Patriots DO land steals, but believe me, the other team has to accept the deal before it goes down. They can't just pick and choose who they want and the league makes it happen.

Get a clue.

Then tell your team to hire a competant GM who doesn't trade away good players for peanuts. Don't whine about it later just because Bill is good as what he does

I was about to comment about how we "steal" players, but thats been dealt with. As for the Pats needing atleast 13 wins for homefield advantage: we don't need homefield when it comes to Pittsburgh during the playoffs, we own them in the playoffs. Notice their recent titles came when they didn't play us?

Call the waaaahhmbulance. Sorry that BB is too superior for other GM's to comprehend, that they get sucked into one sided trades by him. It isn't "stealing" you moron.

The Patriots always get the better deal of trades. If I were a GM and New England called me with an offer, I would hang up immediately.

He signed the 1 yr franchise tag deal with the Panthers a few days ago. Not happening in 48 hours sorry. Hell its not happening in 48 weeks. Thanks for trying out maybe next year.
