NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Sapp to work with Harris
June 27, 2009, 11:59 AM
Harris told reporters during Wednesday's voluntary workout at Halas Hall that he's particularly looking forward to working in the coming weeks with former NFL great Warren Sapp.

"I have to wait until OTAs are over with, then we're going to get some work in," Harris said.

Rod Marinelli, the Bears' new defensive line coach, has made Harris somewhat of a personal project, wanting to bring him back to a Pro Bowl level.

All of that sounds great you can always learn learn something from those who have done it and those you respect. So if Harris has some type of admiration of Sapp then he should come away from their training togehter feeling as if it was essential to his development to the next level. But as for his return to a Pro Bowl level - when was his decline.Even not being total healthy he's played at an All pro level, well above most at his position and should be consider as an elite, when his on the field

This is all good and well but maybe Harris could spend his time doing something better, like taking those millions of dollars he's making and pouring it into the best rehab available for his knee? Just a thought, but he's allready at an all pro level, if the guy could stay on the field without pain in his knee he would be a beast play in and play out.

I agree with you 100% Tommie at his worst is better than most. I think the Sapp thing stems from the media criticizing Harris about his play since his big contract and one way to silence the critics is to show your putting forth the effort and of course showing the critics on game day. Maybe Sapp has a trick or two left up his sleeve he could show him I know he could teach him some trash talking LOL.

Working with Sapp seems like a waste of time to me, I would rather see him use this down time to work with Marinelli, the man who made Sapp the Sapp we all know. Why learn from the best when you can learn from the one the best learned from?

I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything about Sapp working with Tommie, as he'd promised to do that before the Pro Bowl, if memory serves me correctly.

I think Marinelli is working closely with Tommie the articel goes on to say, "Rod Marinelli, the Bears' new defensive line coach, has made Harris somewhat of a personal project, wanting to bring him back to a Pro Bowl level."

Maybe all three of them will work on things together.

Your memory is correct Sapp was asked if he was going to work with Tommie and he replied "I am going to work with him, yes"

Wow, you copied over what could be the most boring and meaningless story in sports.
He'll have a conversation with Sapp so the two of them can appease the media and the foolhardy fans that actually think this will make a big difference. End of story.

The only thing meaningless and foolhardy here is you and your post.

Hey I agree with this all the way Tommie needs to do what it takes to get healthy and stay healthy for the whole season.( if posssible make it happen- that should be his goal)
