NFL  > Tampa Bay Buccaneers  > Latest on the Buc's interest in Plaxico is, NONE!!!!
June 29, 2009, 08:14 AM
Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik indicated the team has no interest in signing former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress at this time. The Bucs are looking for receviers to back up starters Antonio Bryant and Michael Clayton. "We're going to let Brian Clark, Maurice Stovall and even Dexter Jackson compete and go from there,'' Dominik said.

It seems the Buccaneers, in particular, may be losing interest in former Giant wide receiver Plaxico Burress. Though Buccaneers Head Coach Raheem Morris sounds a lot like a guy who would like to have Burress on his team, there is a feeling inside One Buc Place that adding Burress may be a step in the wrong direction. The Bucs have seldom hesitated to give a player with a troubled past a second chance, but it's clear there is a faction inside the organization that believes signing Burress may be going too far.

Although im disappointed and i think it's a lost for us not to take this guy in, im ready to see my team on the field and ready to see how our D turns out this season.

I wouldn't give up the ship just yet Cap, when a G.M. ends his statement with "AT THIS TIME," it's a open ended phrase and is leaving the door open.

Thanx for the lift partner, but after that statement the GM made i really don't want to keep my hopes up unless that is just a blanket, than what eva happens happens. I gotta hope the recvrs we have step up and do what it is they have to do this season you know, but thanx buddy maybe it is a coverup but i don't want to ride on a slim possibility.

We're in the same boat, Cap. We have to hope that Roy Williams can take T.O.'s place, and Sam Hurd, Miles Austin, Isaaih "Injured List" Stanback and others step up.
But, hey,

"The Boys Are Going To Make Some Noise!"

lol

Then again, your GM may be using a smoke screen too.

Yeah i know, they did it for Freeman, and Plaxico has been in florida for the past 2 weeks so i don't know. I'm just not going to hold my breath, I'm gonna let it play out the way it plays out.

Also press released that the grand jury will look into his case and he may have to go to trial during the season, and he can either be released scott free and get suspended, or he can face his sentence and still be out for part of this season, so with that new info released, Plax may not available, and now all teams maybe backing off of him for that situation alone.

Jason Cole of yahoo sports is reporting:

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is leaning toward indefinitely suspending former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress and continuing to sideline quarterback Michael Vick, three sources with knowledge of the situations have indicated.

That's why I suggested what I did earlier last week, or whenever it was. Getting hopes up, just to have them dashed is not good.

Besides, having one of these guys like Plexiglass is like trying to win the lottery......you can't miss something you don't have.
