First of all, Tony has played 2.5 seasons, for a totaly of about 40 games. I'd say that expecting over 12% of the games to be BIG GAMES is fool hearty. At best, a team plays 1 or 2 big games every year, and that is only because they have been successful in the other games that makes this game BIG. Obviously an appearance in the playoffs is an automatic big game.
Starting with Dallas @ Carolina in 2006 which is the first game he started.
Dallas v. an undefeated Indianapolis team. 21 to 14.
Dallas 23 v. NY Giants 20
Dallas @ Atlanta on Saturday Night on NFL Network.
Dallas @ Chicago (previous years NFC champion, both teams were undefeated and this was a statement game)
Dallas @ NY Giants on Nov 11, all but clinched the division title
Dallas v. Green Bay decided home field advantage throughout the playoffs
Dallas v. NY Giants to keep playoff hopes alive, against the NFC's #1 seed
I'm sure those games won't meet your criteria of a big game, but I know when I was watching them, they had all the feel of a NFC championship game.
And sure Tony can't walk on water, but it doesn't mean that he is a horrible QB. You seem to be taking your effort to an extreme. If he's no better than a Danny White, that is still pretty freaking good. And if you consider that in some of the losses, the team lost the game, and not just Tony, then at least you are being rational.
You then digress into a critique of coaching and completely derail your thesis. I'd like to take you seriously, but I just can't. There were people saying that Peyton Manning would never win a Super Bowl, and that was obviously debunked. Marino never won a super bowl, and Elway didn't win until the tail end of his career. Take a breath, things have to be right both with the personell and the way the ball bounces.
Just going back to the Baltimore v. Dallas game last year, if Hamlin gets the fumble, or makes either of the two tackles that went for 2 long runs, then the Cowboys might win that game. If Witten didn't slip in the game against Pittsburgh, and if the O-line actually provided Tony with some protection in the playoff game against the Giants, or against Arizona last year, or against Philadelphia when they basically broke his ribs in the first half.
Watch the games, not just the final score.
I have a feeling it's going to be a rough season for The Cowboys this year.
Just my opinion which is worth only 2 cents.
In your other thread, you didn't have all of your facts straight. I will mention them once more.
You words;
"If Drew Bledsoe didn???t get injured then nobody would even have known of this second rate QB."
Mike Shanahan offered him more money than the Cowboys did, so someone knew of him.
Romo did NOT replace an "injured" Bledsoe. Bledsoe was pulled out of the game.
Then, again in your words ....
"Last season they made it to playoffs, instead of putting his head down to the X???s and O???s he went to Mexico to blow off a little steam with his hottie. Well, his trip to Mexico cost the Cowboys the game."....
This^^ was in 07, not 08. I don't agree with the trip, but then I'm not in charge of anything. I'm just like you and every other fan.......just a fan.
You posted the first one on the 17th, and now, 13 days later, you expect the subject to remain the same without coming back and giving your input on the subject matter? I have yet to see a thread or a blog that stays strictly to the main subject. The main subject meanders back and forth through most, but it does get changed, and quite often.
This time, you're making a little more sense. I can agree with some of what you said about Romo, in that he became a celebrity QB, when he was warned about that by Parcells. He may never be another Aikman, or he may become better. He's still young and learning. He went to a small Illinois college and went undrafted. What do you expect?
No, Romo cannot walk on water, but he can swim. The ones before him, i.e. Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson (he beat out Tom Brady at Michigan), Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner, etc. etc., cannot even swim. The game of football is a crap shoot, and if the Saints didn't get Drew Brees, who would they have? Michael Vick's cousin...I forgot his name already......went to Oakland and became a nobody. The Saints haven't had the most illustrious seasons, so you should check your own team before condemning any others.
Right now, we as fans are wanting to make the playoffs. If we can do that, we can then hope for another SB later. We do have 5 SB wins, and 8 appearances. How many do the Saints have?

It may very well be, but it may not be either. Sometimes it's not the destination that's fun, but the journey. Hang in there.
Laison;
It's evident you didn't read all of the comments made on your other thread either.....just assuming the subject changed. Other fans of other teams even made comments that pertained to the subject matter. Go re read some of the comments.
Yay bull shirt is here, now we can not read what he types! the guy just talks and talks and talks...

as a dallas fan... i go back and forth on how i think next season will go. i want to believe romo will have a great year and get us that first playoff win in over a decade. we aren't expecting a SB appearance, just some wins in post season play. but, i'm a realist too and as much as i want to belive dallas will have a good yr, my gut is that we still lack in so many areas, inclulding leadership, coaching, and a strong willed QB. all that may add up to another 9-7 season.

You're referring to me? If that's the case, no one says you have to read it, but it's evident you do
that's cause you write good stuff bull_shirt! keep it coming!!

What have we got to lose anyway? The best a fan can do is hope for the best. We control nothing, other than maybe merchandise sales. No team knows just what they have until they get out there and play. This year will likely not resemble last year, much like last year has no resemblance of 07.

Thank you kindly............:-)....I know I sometimes piss people off with my views, but I say it like I see it. It's just opinions, and if I'm wrong, and I am a lot of times, I have no problem owning up to it..............just waiting to see if this guy was talking about me or the author of this thing.
hoping you are right bull_shirt. i think romo is taking things more seriously this off season and hopefully working harder too. if the locker room chemistry is better, and it should be, then maybe their play sunday afternoon will improve. i'm hopeful!!
i know one thing.... i gotta find a way to get to that new palace of a stadium for at least one game this season. better start saving my $$$$$ now.

I'm sure he is...........if you'll read his biography, he's been a competitor all of his walking life. As they say, some people mature faster than others, so I would think some learn faster as well. This year will tell, for sure.
I do like those 3 running backs tho........that can only help Romo. Swing pass out to Felix and let him run...................:-)
I wish I could have seen Texas Stadium, but alas poor yorick, it was never meant to be.
texas stadium was actually a neat place. lower lever was close to field. not much sidelines so you felt real close to players. upper level was high, especially in corners and endzone. i sat in press box w/ friend once. we went down on the field the whole 4t qtr. then went inside press room and listened to aikman and smith talk about the win that day. i rode in elevator w/ moose johnson that afternoon, pat sumerall too. was a day i'll always remember. couldn't belive i was walking on the star at center field. only regret was no camera, but it's all recorded in my mind forever.

Nope...I live 6 hours south of Dallas.I seldom went that far north. I did live in Livingston, while working at that prison there, but seldom had time for a real life then.
Yeah, I wish now I would have done so, but if hindsight is 20/20..............I doubt I'd be able to afford a ticket to the new one. Maybe one day, but my wife HATES football, but she has to suck it up when the 'Boys play, or go shopping or something......lol
man... you gotta see the new one. it's the best stadium in sports. and with you being the biggest fan for 40+ yrs. you can't miss it. who cares about being able to afford it. it's something you do for yourself. i'll be watching ebay in Oct for some good prices. we ought to go!!

Sounds like a plan to me. When do you think you might want to?
