NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Bears ranked 14th on NFL Network
July 2, 2009, 08:40 PM
In the series 32 teams in 32 days...the Bears were ranked 14...this was a survey done by the NFL worlwide to see were the fans think teams will do...be ranked 14th does not put you in the playoffs, the reason that they were ranked so low was...that they did not have a legitimate WR core, and no #1 WR...NO COMMENT

Jamie Dukes of the NFL Network thinks that the Bears will pick up Marvin Harrison...

July 2, 2009  09:44 PM ET

Sign Marvin Harrison to a one year incentive based contract, and sign Matt Jones to a 2-3 year deal worth #2 receiver money, 3-4 mil a year. Jones size and ability to stretch the middle would be a good compliment to Hester and there aren't many better route runners in the NFL to mentor our young receiving corp's than Harrison.

Matt Jones had BAGGAGE...a two time loser...I would not want him on my roster...plus he is not that good...

And Plax doesn't? Aside from that, he isn't that good either. Look at Plax numbers last year even before he was suspended by NYG. 400 some yds, 4 tds on 34 catches. What does that project to a season, had he played a full 16 games? 50 catches 600 some yds and 6 tds. Yeah, well worth the investment there.

If the contract with Marvin is incentive laden, and his price has dropped from what he initially wanted, sign him. Other than that, work with what we have.

I read somewhere Harrison is going to retire, tho. because it would take to long to get into a "comfort zone" with another QB like he had with Manning. But, then again, that's not gospel truth either.

No we don't...Plaxico is not in the equation, he tried to be slick, and got caught out there...the Bears have what they have...

No, just a general statement to his comment. LOL

Jones caught 70 passes over 12 games with an average QB and run oriented offense. I don't buy the baggage arguement. He's a young rich guy who got caught with drugs, not uncommon. His second offense was drinking some beer with friends on a golf course. Against parole? Yes. As bad as shooting yourself in the leg or even wearing sweat pants in a club? Not in my opinion. Either way I'd like to grab Jones or Plax, would feel a bit better about the season.

Jones average QB has been to the Pro Bowl...and to me they are both stupid..if you have the much money, my would you be getting high in a car? Now that is REAL stupid...

What year did Garrard/Leftwitch go to the PB?

July 3, 2009  02:49 AM ET

Would I like the bears to have a true #1 wideout of course but there were several times Hester was open particularly deep down the field and Orton just completely missed him Cutler is not going to have that problem. Plus did anyone know who Brandon Marshall or Eddie Royal were before Cutler started getting them the ball.

I thought he went in 2007 when he only threw 3 int...I thought one of the three QB's pulled out, and he went...I could be wrong?

Doing drugs while playing pro football needs to be made UNcommon. These guys should realize that what they have is a privilege, not a right. They have the freedom of choice, and it's not like they were "forced into it", or "I had a bad upbringing" or any number of excuses.

Which is the bigger sin? I couldn't tell you which would be worse, doing drugs or carrying an unlicensed handgun into a nightclub. Both are illegal either way you look at it. They made that choice to do it anyway. There are people who choose NOT to do either. Why couldn't these guys do the same? You might would feel better about the season, but that's no guarantee they'd help your team at all. Chances are, they wouldn't, because of what got them in trouble in the first place. If you want a drug user and an illegal gun carrier on your team, far be it for me to stop you, but I sure wouldn't.

sign whichever retread receivers you will ... yer qb is is a whiny**** and you let the heart and soul of yer defense get outta town when mike brown left ..... enjoy the 8-8 maybe 9-7 if everything goes well

July 3, 2009  09:57 AM ET

I can't wait to see Jay Cutler FAIL in Chicago and Bears fans throw themselves off the nearest bridge realizing they gave up 2 first rounders and a 3rd for that ****.

Gonna be hilarious.

Jay Cutler "The Saviour" Ha Ha LOL.

Matt Jones had 70 catches in 12 games last year, is 6'6, and I don't remember his 40 time off the top of my head but it is up in the 4.3 range if I'm not mistaken. That's not a HUGE upgrade to our receiving corps? Yeah he's had a couple of off the field issues, but until recently you have been compaigning for PLax who not only has off the field issues in his personal life, but also had what? something like 70 grievances filed against him by the Giants, missing team meetings, showing up late to practices, etc... etc... etc... Atleast Jones never seemed to be that much of a locker room distraction and while Jones may never be a #1 receiver on the field like Plax is, he would still be a HUGE upgrade to our WR position, without bringing all the locker room trouble Plax would.

No, I know the season you are talking about duece, and Garrad never went to the Pro Bowl, I believe he only played in 12 games that year. Last year, he threw for 15 tds and 13 interceptions. I am not advocating drug use at all by saying what Jones did wasn't that bad. I am in the military and if I was ever caught with drugs there would be no second chance. Dishonarble discharge and see ya. I just have never heard about Jones being late to meetings or being a bad teammate. I also don't buy that he's a two time offender, THE GUY HAD A BEER WHILE SHOOTING 18, sorry, I don't find that offensive in the least. Pretty much mark me down as almost agreeing one hundred percent with PapaTBear. Oh and all you **** who have nothing better to do then come on this site to intaginize Bears fans, it's fourth of July weekend man, go buy a grill and throw a party for your trailor park.
