You under-estimate Serena's determination not to loose again like last year.
Before this game, Serena had 10 grand slams, and Venus had 7.
Venus had stated her desire to increase her haul and catch up with her lil' sis.
Venus started off playing great: she was playing to win.
Serena wasn't playing so great, and was a bit intimidated. Her main strategy was to stay calm.
When she realized that she was still able to hang in there in spite of Venus playing great, she gained confidence.
When Venus realized Serenas wasn't just going to go away, the pressure of being everybody's favorite got to her.
She wilted.
Whether you like Serena or not, you've got to admit that she's got more of a fighting spirit than all the other girls.
The girl's got heart.

I don't believe Venus gave Serena anything....but man, what a stinker of a match...so boring. Even the crowd in ths stadium was half asleep. And that's the problem with most of their matches...uninspired tennis. It seemed like 75% of the points were over in 2 or 3 strokes.

i think Serena ia a BIG BABy with no RESPECT for anyone not even her sister i always go for Venus has more CLASS.

Well Vee didn't give it to her last year. Sometimes you just need to recognize when one player is better than the other. These accusations will never stop.

Why is it Serena's job to say nice things about her opponents? I have seen very few matches where Serena did not dictate who won. Either by playing great tennis or not playing great tennis. At her best, no one can beat her. At her worst, she is supposed to give credit to an inferior player. I don't get it. Serena has never tried to be the Ms Congeniality of the WTA, why should she start now just so a few fangirls can feel better about their inferior players getting a lucky break???

You know what! At the end of the match whether someone loses or not, I think they should just shake the chairumpire's hand and get the hell out of the stadium. The tennis played is enough said. Players can go back and review the tape and find out what they executed good or bad. Enough of the chatting. These men/women are at work, it's not a social call.
