Hall of Fame...No Question...A great role model for all African Americans

July 5, 2009  01:44 AM ET

R.I.P Steve, words cant describe how i feel, Your only gone, Never Forgotton

July 5, 2009  03:52 AM ET

Yes this it tragic..and yes he was a role model...not just for African Americans...but for all men..espeically married men...lesson to be learned: Stay away from special friends and keep your pecker in your pants and stay home with your family and this doesn't happen. Not that you deserved to die Steven, but you shoulda known better.

Being a Cowboy fan, and a former Oiler fan as well, I used to watch the Oilers when they still resided in Houston.

Mere words cannot express my condolences to the family, and to the many team mates and friends of Steve. May God Bless you all during this time, and heal and comfort you.

A man's skin color should make no difference. We all occupy the same planet, and bleed red. I enjoyed watching him play. Rest in Peace, Steve McNair.

He was a great asset to the NFL and will be missed sorely but also remembered fondly, My condolences goes out to Steve's family, friends and teammates.

The 4th comment was very disrespectful to Steve... its too late to talk down to the man. Im from Nashville and i knew Steve personally, he is the most influential sports figure in Tennessee history point blank. And he was a great man in the community. End of Story.

The world and all of football fans have lost a great man, warrior, and ambassodor for how the game is supposed to be played. He will be missed, never forgotten, and never replaced in our hearts. I'll see you on the other side Steve. I Love you and miss you

I agree with you wholeheartedly. That comment was totally uncalled for, but I try to ignore such ignorance.

I have a question I need an answer to. I am a Cowboys fan, but live nearer to Houston and also watched the Oilers back when they resided there. After they left, I continued watching them as they transformed into the Titans. When I could, of course.

My question is, after grooming Steve for about 2 years, and then was a starter for all those years, why did the Titans close the practice field on him when he tried reporting to work that time? Not long after that, he was either traded or released and the Ravens picked him up.

I don't understand why he was ever locked out of the Titans facilities. Anyone?

If this question I ask has no answer, or the answer should not be made public for any reason, please feel free to fan mail me and let me know. I will respect any and all privacy concerned.

Great role model...for husbands and fathers who should be home at 2 AM with his family.
On the field, he may have been a great leader, but as this incident shows...not someone I'd want to have my children emulate.

July 5, 2009  09:29 PM ET

why does the public idolize sports stars?? They are regular people ....humans... They make mistakes to. I feel the most for steve McNairs family, his four children and his wife.

I don't think it was disrespectful. The guy has a point. I don't think he was saying Steve was a bad guy or deserved anything because of this situation. But He is right to say he should keep his pecker in his pants.

That being said, that is between him and his wife.

I am a fan of Steve McNair. I am shocked to hear the news. Steve is a hall of fame QB. Great human being. We loved him. But the human weakness is too much to handle All of us men especially teh married ones experienced boredom having sex with wife. Sex with another woman is exciting but you have to know when you put the foot and slam down then the break. Sadly Steve in a moment of weakness did not do that.

A moment of weakness? This wasn't a one-night stand....he put her up in an apartment and bought her an Escalade. I'm sorry he's dead but please stop with the "he was a great man" stuff...he was a great football player but seemingly quite a flawed man. How awful for his wife and kids to not only find out that he wa murdered but was also living a double life.

Well life goes on

July 6, 2009  10:07 AM ET

Understandibly he couldve handled his situation differently as far as the cheating issue, but really cut the guy some slack, no one knows how his relationship with his wife was going. For all we know she couldve been cheating on him also and he found out about it and decided to do the same. Know one will ever know now, because she will never tell, but please dont throw stones at a guy if you don't know the whole picture. Look at the facts you do know, he was a hell of a QB, let the guy life as we know it reflect on that.

People relate to what you know about a person, not what you hear.

July 6, 2009  11:04 AM ET

It's really not up to us to judge him or anyone else.

With that being said, it's real easy to judge one another on these blogs and threads, just by mere words...........i.e. this man named Tim Lumber, a known Steeler basher. Anyone who has had any dealings with this guy will be quick to call him names, curse him, and whatever else. I'm not taking up for him, mind you, because I do not agree with the way he does things, but just trying to prove a point about judging other people.

We really don't know what was going on with McNair's private life, other than what we read, and the opinions we form and those of other people.
