NFL  > Indianapolis Colts  > Speak up Colts fans!!! What does the season look like to you??
July 6, 2009, 05:57 PM
While im not big on losing 5 coaches, I think the O will be fine. Peyton is the real OC any ways. Running game should be fine (I still tihnk should get rid of Addai, trade for Edwards maybe?). As long as the Brown can jumpstart the running game, the pa pass will be there all day. The only things that can hurt the Colts are injuries and maybe the rough schedule this year. As far as the D... who knows what to expect! hopefully Moila can stop the run and get pressure up the middle and the LBs will ACTUALLY tackle someone. The seconday will be stout as usual with big Bob and company. As long as the Texans dont have a "wonder year", they should reclaim the AFC South and make a run at another Super Bowl. I see Peyton having another MVP season as he will have to shoulder quite a bit of the load and put up massive numbers. Who knows, maybe he will have a John Elway year where he sits back does his thing while a young RB (Brown, Addai is lucky to post 2000 rushing steps) posts 2000 rushing yards.

Hey! first of all, don't give up on Addai! He may not be Edge but now he's not expected to be. With Brown and Mike Hart/Lance Ball/Chad Simpson we should be all set to have a great backfield. And I can almost assure you we're not trading him (we need 2 HBs!). Don't insist on getting another WR, Pierre Garcon looks promising, Roy Hall is heading into a make or break season and Austin Collie looks like he's going to be Brandon Stokley 2.0 (and taller at 6'1+), and we've got Dallas Clark (remember the '07 season)! The LBs will tackle people if the D-line helps, and that was adressed by drafting Moala and Taylor, bringing Ed Johnson back and keeping last year starters also there in the mix. About the secondary, if the backup corners play well the nickle and dime positions and everybody stays healthy, it'll be awesome! Better than we've never seen before! I think our real problem is the O-Line. The O-line was a big factor in the struggle of our running game last year, and even in our passing game. The good thing is Tony Ugoh seems inspired in getting better and BEING CONSISTENT, Jeff Saturday is back, and Ryan Lilja might be back too. If Lilja comes back healthy and Ryan Diem and Ugoh play well, it's just up to Mike Pollak or Jamey Richard to step up there at RG. So, my conclusion is that basically the only position in which we don't have depth is at Tackle (QB also, but who cares as long as Peyton stays healthy), cause even though our guys aren't elite at some other positions such as LB, they are players that show potential and have at least some experience. So, if the O-line plays well and the coaching changes are more of a transition rather than a "change", expect good, very good things out of this Indianapolis Colts. GO BLUE!

sorry for the double post

I am excited about the upcoming season. Offensively Peyton is healthy starting the season (and preseason) and will bring his intense leadership style to the rest of the offense - get ready to see the Colts offense off and running at the beginning of the season. The offensive line has a lot more experience this year which should lead to better blocking and depth if needed. Plus, adding a potentially explosive young running back can't hurt. I also like the divisional match-ups better this year - NFC West and AFC East.
Defensively I certainly expect improvement in stopping the run and if the DB's stay healthy they will be tough against the pass again. I am excited to see what the new Defensive Coordinator brings - hopefully some unpredictability.
13-3 or better is not out of reach, nor is Super Bowl. Go Colts!!!!

I have the perfect solution to solve some major issues in the WR and DT spots. May sound crazy but hear me out.....

Trade Bob Sanders to Arizona for Dockett - we have 2 other studs that can replace the oft injured Sanders in Bullett and Giordano. Bob is great but Dockett would make more of an impact in the middle!

Trade Joseph Addai to Cleveland for Edwards - I agree with Tweeder in that Edwards would fit in nicely espically with Peyton throwing the rock to him. Addai has become irrevelant these days with Brown and Hart will be healthy(I still think he can be a great RB) and before long we wont be able to get anything for him.

Sure there are the cap concerns but Sanders and Dockett's cap hits would pretty much equal out. And Edwards could be signed to an incentive based deal (plus hellooo, he would actually be playing for a winning team!)

Anytime there is a coaching change not only in personel but also in philosophy there is usually a time of adjustment. The biggest philosophy change is with Coyer and by the end of the year it should pay dividends. By the time the defence gels I hope to see Freeney and Mathis with sack totals improved by 25% combined, a stouter run defense and a sanders/bullitt safetying by committee which should keep both healthy and effective. The lynchpin in all this improvement is the DT's who should allow a greater freedom of movement by the LB"s and DB's as they will take up more blockers. I think this will be a more enjoyable season for the defense but if too effective the cap casualties in upcoming years may force some radical changes to the longterm outlook for the team.Let's face it, Peyton is not playing forever and this is the time to load defensively as the odds at finding another Peyton is slim to none.As to the Offense the o-line will have better depth because the rookies had so much playing time last year, again a frequent rotation should help Saturday , Lilja and Ugoh (anybody miss Tarik?).Runningback by committee should net a 2000-2500 year output with perhaps no-one exceeding 1000 yds individually. The receivers are solid with some opening at the three spot which makes things interesting. Finally Peyton with a training camp to attend should have a stellar year. This team has great potential and I see no limits on what they can accomplish.

In all reality this should be an exciting year for Colts fans. Are expectations will probably lower than usual and having a whole new coaching staff means having to pay attention closer than usual! GO COLTS

August 29, 2009  03:54 PM ET

I keep hearing about questions along the offensive line. If this is the case, i can think of some insurance policies the Colts need to look at. why not take a one year flyer on John Runyon and/or Pete Kendall??

August 29, 2009  04:03 PM ET

Even with the coaching changes i still think we hav the division barring injury. The Titans will not repeat that monster season they had last year, The Jags dont really hav any weapons on offense other then MJD, and I don't c the texans making a run 4 first this year, but sadly i do in the next few seasons

September 8, 2009  03:04 PM ET

I think since left tackel T. Glenn retired after the Super Bowl win It's the main reason we have a problem with running and pass protection to a point, if we didt'n have Peyton who is the best at getting rid of the ball, and help cover up for it's weakness we would really have a major proplem. I know it's a bit early but I am a little concerned about 2nd round pick Fili Moala, he seems to be
handled quite eazy along the D line and have a real nice push up the middle, what do you think..............................joe

September 8, 2009  11:42 PM ET

I hope the D can step up. We added some beef to the interior D-line. Bob Sanders will probably play his typical 6 games and be hurt for the rest of the year. Our linebackers are to small to tackle running backs who are 50lbs heavier than they are one on one. Bottom line we need pressure on the quarterback, and get off the field on 3rd down, which the colts have been really struggling with over the past forever!

November 7, 2009  01:20 PM ET

See, I told you that Sanders should have been unloaded for a useful draft pick(s) or useful player(s). only what, 6 games in 2 years? Come'on. Now they only way any use from him (because none is from playing time) is for Al Davis to have another mental laps and give up 2 first round picks for him.

November 7, 2009  08:11 PM ET

How long can they just rely on Manning to get out their jams? What it all boils down to is an absolute lack of a running game. The Colts are my favorite pro team, but there is no way they can go far in the playoffs if they can't get that established.

November 12, 2009  08:11 AM ET

Ironically, the Colts and the Saints have the same test to overcome in the next couple of weeks. New England. Good luck to the Colts this weekend and show my Saints what they need to do to knock off the Pats.

November 12, 2009  10:38 AM ET

COlts will have to have b team d line ready willing and able. each man has to come to the field prepared to do his job. No if ands, or Buts! This is the Patriots and historically speaking Manning has some bling catching up to do!

November 12, 2009  10:43 AM ET

8-1 is a good record.

THE YEAR HAS BEEN BEAUTIFUL FOR ME. CAN WE GO UNDEFEATED FOR THE SEASON AS WELL AS THE PLAYOFFS AND THE SUPER BOWL? I HIGHLY DOUBT IT, A LOSS HERE AND THERE IS GOOD FOR THE TEAM AND BRINGS THEM BACK TO REALITY. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR, WE COULD NOT LOSE, IF WE DID WE WOULD HAVE NOT MADE THE PLAYOFFS. BUT THE TEAM IS PLAYING DIFFERENT THIS YEAR, LET'S JUST WAIT AND SEE. GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
