NFL  > Houston Texans  > Jump on the bandwagon
July 10, 2009, 06:54 PM
This year looks like the year the Texans finally make the leap to playoff team. They've been plagued by poor management, bad picks and free agent signing, bad luck and poor effort by the players. That all looks to be past history. Here's your chance NFL fans. Jump on the bandwagon now before all of your buddies discover the most exciting offense, the stingiest defense and the first playoff run in Texans history.

Go Texans!!!

ummm what obviously you are a bandwagon jumper because you have no clue about what you are talking about. Let's start from the beginning.

1) They've been plagued by bad management. Umm they have one of the best owners in the league who isn't afraid to spend money. He's built one of the nicest stadiums and all things considered Charley Casserly (their first GM), wasn't all that bad. He's surrounded himself with good football people, and knew that it takes time to build a winner from nothing.

2) They've been plagued by bad picks...Umm Remember that Charley Casserly is the guy that drafted, Andre Johnson, Damico Ryans (I knoW i misspelled that one), Dunte Robinson, Owen Daniels, and got the best player (imo) in the 06 draft MARIO WILLIAMS, to name a few. They traded away for a good quarterback, who if he can only stay healthy (which seems to be a re occurring theme for Houston sports teams), should be great with the offensive weapons they have. Also in the past couple of drafts they picked up Amobi Okaye who is looking more and more like a stud the more I watch him, and 2008's breakout player Steve Slaton. They've done a magnificent job drafting which is why they are in the position they are in.

3) Poor effort from the players in the past two seasons the Texans have won more games in the second half of the season then the first. They are actually slow starters. How can you say a team that goes out and plays hard to win games late in the season with no chance of making the playoffs shows poor effort? In fact I would say they show tremendous effort. I will say the only year they showed poor effort was in 05 when it seemed they tanked games so they could get the #1 overall pick. Which they used wisely.
