Nothing spices up the atmosphere leading up to a heavyweight title bout like some colorful pre-fight theatrics.
As Samuel Peter and Vitali Klitschko prepare to fight for the WBC title on Saturday in Berlin, the punchers met today for a press conference to promote the event. Take it away, Sam:
Samuel Peter angrily ripped the WBC belt from Vitali Klitschko's hands and stormed off the stage Monday at a news conference to promote their heavyweight title fight.
The two fighters -- both called champions by the WBC -- were engaged in the routine pre-fight stare-down with both holding the belt, when Peter, urged on by trainer Stacy McKinley, angrily snatched it from Klitschko's grasp.
Klitschko looked surprised, then bemused.
The Nigerian native's last words before snatching the belt from Klitschko's grasp: "It's not yours. You know it's not yours. I'm telling you: It's not yours." Here's some video of the incident. (Peter grabs the belt at 55-second mark.)
Promoters love antics like these because they frequently do wonders for publicity. But what do you think: Were Peter's actions spontaneous or staged?

"Jimmy, can we get a stool for Mr Peter to stand on? Most of the audience can't see him and the Nigerian Nutjob is about to start his pre-fight stchick".

This was the worst acting performance by an athlete since Michael Phelps on SNL.
