Last Thursday, we ranked the watchability of every game on the Week 5 slate. Today, we look back and re-rank the games based on what actually went down. At season's end, we'll tally up the pre- and post-game rankings from throughout the year to determine the league's most and least watchable squads -- and the 30 teams in between.
Minnesota 30, New Orleans 27 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 6
Post-Ranking: 1
Comment: The NFL definitely saved the best for last with this exciting Monday nighter. This game had it all: punt return TDs, FG blocks returned for TDs, de-cleating hits, stifling defense (just ask Adrian Peterson) and last-minute drama.
* * *
Indianapolis 31, Houston 27 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 9
Post-Ranking: 2
Comment: It's admittedly hard to watch the Colts offense these days, but that frenetic final four minutes more than made up for it.
* * *
Tennessee 13, Baltimore 10 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 1
Post-Ranking: 3
Comment: Loved this game from the get-go and it lived up to expectations. Sure, the offenses left a little to be desired, but the physicality of the defenses and the post-whistle scraps were fun to watch.
* * *
Atlanta 27, Green Bay 24 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 8
Post-Ranking: 4
Comment: Surprises are always watchable and the Falcons walking into Lambeau and leaving with a win will rank among the biggest all season.
* * *
Washington 23, Philadelphia 17 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 3
Post-Ranking: 5
* * *
Pittsburgh 26, Jacksonville 21 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 4
Post-Ranking: 6
* * *
Miami 17, San Diego 10 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 10
Post-Ranking 7
Comment: We see a lot of the "Wildcat" on Saturdays but it's still interesting to watch an NFL team pull it off on Sundays.
* * *
Denver 16, Tampa Bay 13 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 2
Post-Ranking: 8
Comment: The Broncos defense finally showed up, but the offense was not its usual entertaining self, thanks to the Bucs 'D.'
* * *
Dallas 31, Cincinnati 22 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 13
Post-Ranking: 9
* * *
New England 30, San Francisco 21 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 11
Post-Ranking: 10
* * *
Arizona 41, Buffalo 17 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 5
Post-Ranking: 11
Comment: Watching an undefeated team go down in flames would be entertaining if it wasn't against such a mediocre bunch.
* * *
N.Y. Giants 44, Seattle 6 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 7
Post-Ranking: 12
* * *
Chicago 34, Detroit 7 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 12
Post-Ranking: 13
* * *
Carolina 34, Kansas City 0 [RECAP]
Pre-Ranking: 14
Post-Ranking: 14
Comment: That's four straight weeks we've pegged the least watchable game. That's going on the resume.

Re: Bills vs Cards!!! Bear with me for a brief preface....and I am a Bills fan by the way...actually moved from the godforsaken 'burbs to the "village" area of buffalo which has been enjoying a revitalization complete with a treasure trove of late 19th early 20th Century Victorian architecture!!!! Oh yeah, the preface? [1st Part completed///next time someone speaks bad 'bout Buffalo....ASK THEM IF, WHERE AND WHEN they last visited!!!LOL]..Part 2, preface: The Cards are NOT bad or even mediocre at this point. They have a ton of talent, finally a decent coaching staff...and, what I think is a playoff game in this post season!
BILLS vs CARDS....
From this bills fans perspective, this was the most frightening game to date! Why??? Well here in Buffalo the majority of fans disagree with me...the say the "D" ditched...probably to a certain degree....BUT my biggest fear is the same one I felt at the end of last season.....ready???? JP LOSS-MAN..,....LOSSMAN...lossman....however you choose to write it...the word LOSS appears.....just like it will if Edwards isn't healed 100% and quickly!!! The last thing, as a local fan, that I want to hear 'bout is the long pass to Evans. I'm more of a realist...how'bout getting sacked ....holding on to the ball untill'10 mississippi's are up LOL!
. I like Edwards but am not, nor ever was sold on his health from the beginning...to my best friends Paul & Kevin.....hate saying "I told you .....oh heck Kevin, I said that about Bush (GW) a million times already...LOL ...go bills!!!!!

xxzeon, there is no doubt that Losman holding onto the ball for too long led to problems (I counted at least two sacks that were clearly avoidable if the kid just had a little better judgment). You say local fans want to blame it on the D, and I won't *solely* blame it on the D -- the loss of Edwards had a big effect. I'd rather have two fewer sacks and a bunch more successful 3rd down conversions than that (admittedly awesome) 80+ yard bomb. Do I think Edwards could have made that throw? No. But the Bills got KILLED in TOP (<23 minutes) so heaving for long bombs is not going to help that much.
So yeah, losing Edwards was big. Don't close your eyes to the lousy defense, though. The D-line has been in decline since Week 1. Against the Seahawks, they looked aggressive and dangerous. They looked good against Jville, less so against Oakland and St. Louis. But then against Arizona, the entire front 7 looked absolutely listless. There was just no intensity or pressure.
From a coaching standpoint, I am still scratching my head as to why D-coordinator Perry Fewell didn't adjust the game plan to include more press coverage for the 2nd half. The Bills were getting burned time after time on short underneath routes -- and on most plays, the corners were playing with a good 10+ yd cushion between them and the wideouts! What the--?! Bills' coaches are supposed to be the halftime adjustment kings this season. What happened? I saw no defensive adjustments whatsoever.
In terms of YPA, Marshawn Lynch theoretically had his best game of the season -- but since the Bills trailed all game, they couldn't run the ball very often. The running game, while efficient, was not a factor. The receivers played okay, for the most part, with the exception of TE Robert Royal dropping that crucial fumble.
As far as your dig on Edwards' health... let's see if he comes back, okay? You try having a 240 pound man put his full weight onto you (as Adrian Wilson *illegally* did to Edwards; when tackling the passer, it is the tackler's responsibility to get a hand down or something to avoid putting his full weight on the QB -- Wilson failed to do so) and smash your head against the ground for a concussion, and see if you get right back up.
Bottom line is, a concussion is a concussion, and since Edwards doesn't yet have a history of concussions, he is NOT YET at any higher risk of getting them than any other player. It was a vicious hit, and I don't think it says anything about Edwards' durability.
Now, if after the bye, he's still out, okay, then we'll talk about durability. But missing one game because of a concussion caused by an illegal hit? I'll give him a pass on that one.

I don't get why Buffalo has completely abandoned the short passing game with Fred Jackson and "The Beast". It was really effective against the Jags, and kept a lot of their pass rushers on their toes. It's common knowledge that one of the most basic ways to slow a pass rush is to play the screen pass game effectively. I just don't know why they wouldn't use on of their most consistently effective weapons.

We may have to stop being suprised by this team as the season goes and they grow up. If they get a lead the Burner can carry the load to run clocks out ala Jam. Ryan is legit. The bird is the word.

xxzeon, if you continue to represent Buffalo like that than I don't expect many people will want to visit. Easy on the LOLs and period/comma combinatinons. And it's Losman, not Lossman.
Losing Edwards was huge, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that, like jaysweet said, our D just wasn't strong. I too have noticed the complete lack of a pass rush, and for the money we're paying Schobel and Kelsay they should have a sack each per game. It's ludicrous how the Jets dismantled Warner with a good pass rush, and then the Bills barely even blitz.

Cassiday's;
I couldn't agree more. The Jacksonville / Pittsburgh game was one of the best games to watch this weekend. It was a helluva' lot better than the fluke Colts game or the messy Vikings game.
How are they measuring the most 'watchable' games here? Both the Colts and Vikings games featured sloppy, inconsistent play, with highlights than only happened because of said sloppy play <ahem*Reggie Bush's 2 TD's*ahem>. The Jax and Steelers game was classic, smash-mouth football and gutsy performaces.
In my mind, that was the #1 game of the weekend...

So the Cards are a mediocre bunch huh? They are the second best offense in the league, behind the Giants. They are not mediocre, they lost to the 4-1 Skins on the road, and had the one 6 TO game against the Jets, in which the offense still put up 35 in the second half.
The Cards are underrated and anything but mediocre. After they take care of the precious Cowboys, can you still call them mediocre?

Cards are definitely NOT mediocre. There are a lot of "authorities" at sports illustrated that are still in love with the strong teams of the past, they aren't ready for teams with rocky recent histories to be major competitors. Face it guys, The Colts suck this year, as do the Seahawks and Packers, LT is on the downside as is Larry Johnson. Arizona, the Titans, Buffalo, The Panthers, and the Redskins are going to be smashing some heads over the next 11 weeks. It's time to stop trying to stroke the big NFL egos, and give some credit to the teams that deserve it.
