I love hockey, especially the playoff, and used to follow the NHL with more than a passing interest. However, I must confess the only reason I knew the hockey season had started was because Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin dropped the ceremonial first puck at the Flyers home opener Saturday night.
Palin, a self-described hockey mom, had received an invitation from Flyers owner and noted conservative Ed Snider. You’ve got to think some Flyers fans hope she is never invited back after the Rangers scored four goals in the first period and held on for a 4-3 victory.
Some longtime fans may view her as the anti-Kate Smith, considered a good luck charm to the Flyers because the team won a lot more games than lost whenever she belted out “God Bless America” before the game. According to the website flyershistory.net, the Flyers are 76-20-4 whenever the song is played or was sung in person by Smith. She died in 1986.
Palin’s appearance gave the NHL some rare national media exposure and her campaign received some much-needed publicity in Pennsylvania, a swing state. It was a win-win situation for everybody, except the Flyers.

You have to watch the clip - they mercilessly booed her (and her kids!). Then again, this the same city that booed Santa Claus, so not sure how the campaign could've thought this was gonna be a good idea...

Well for you one thing you idiot the league released a statement saying they had no problem with that so Ed Snider will not endure any backlash. Second, you must be a typical angry democrat who loathes people who have succeeded further then you in life(which obviously isn't hard) and enjoy the left rhetoric of taxing the rich for your supposed gain.
