I agree, Ms. Trixie. People do need to get over themselves. I read some comments and you would think Dave has personally insulted these people. All he voiced was an opinion that Adubato might've made a sexist remark (I have the same opinion, and so do some others). Others can disagree (which you and mom do), but the tone of the response from some is the world is ending, fannation is a piece of s@(@( and Dave is an A*hole. Ridiculous.

<quoted-text>Nobody is saying anything chauvinistic at all, and your post is completely wrong. Violet Palmer is a terrible ref. I don't care what her peers think of her. Watch a game sometime. She's terrible, and she has no business being in the NBA.</quoted-text>

Can you read? VIOLET PALMER IS A TERRIBLE OFFICIAL! I don't care whether you're male, female, or a little of both. If you're a terrible official, you shouldn't have your job. It's that simple. How does my comment have no analysis? What's there to analyze? She's a terrible official. How does my opinion of Violet Palmer being a terrible official indicate in any way that I have no concept of officiating, or that I am a chauvinist? Help me out here. I can't read something that's not there.

Ms. Trixie, the sole point I was making was that Adubato was sexist because he suggested she should go back to WNBA after blowing a call. It was to point out to others that they were missing the point of the argument. Now, I am not sure if that would've been a foul in the WNBA; who cares, for that matter it would've been a foul in your backyard too, perhaps. But we are adults, we know exactly what he meant, no matter how he tries to justify it latter. How much offense women want to take about his sexism is up to them. I could care less, much less tell women what to think.

I think most idiots who think Adubato was right don't really get what Dave's point. Violet Palmer may be the worst ref (and that is debatable) and may have blow the call (maybe not so debatable). But suggesting that bad refs who are women and blow a call should go back to the WNBA is saying that the WNBA deserves bad refs who are women. Ridiculous. Why not just say she is a bad ref and she should be fired?

So, it is OK to suggest that WNBA is where bad refs should go because they don't deserve good refs? Dumb idiots.

Women have no place in mens sports. It is infuriating to hear the nonsense that comes from these female reporters who work the sidelines. They are told what to ask and they are told what to say. They have infested every mens professional sport, and they are also invading sports talk radio. Fat Mike Francesa of WFAN, which simulcasts the show on the Yankee cable channel, keeps force feedin us recently hired Mia Harris. Her delivery on the updates sounds just like a man, and when you see that ugly mug you just want to cringe. These women have no credibility especially when they come on with their plunging neckline cheap outfits. No talent, no class, with that I think I'll pass.

It's unfortunate and disheartening to read the absurd and ridiculous previous comments made by a bunch of male chauvinist. Violent Palmer is rated high amongst her peers in the referee rankings. She is in her 12th season and has officiated hundreds of games including an NBA playoff game. Just because she blew the whistle on a play that the old curmudgeon Richie Adubato didn't agree with, doesn't make her a terrible official. None of you can name one professional referee that's perfect. Adubato is still in the error of a woman's place belongs in the kitchen. That type of mentality and shallowness clearly depicts Adubato and the rest of you male chauvinist as old thinking, stale and miserable men. Get with the times! There are plenty of women out there who are capable and equivalant of doing the things that men do. What about the most respected NFL official Ed Hochuli? He robbed the San Diego charges of a game by blowing Jay Cutler's fumble as a dead play. Get over your gender prejudice and get a life!

The best color commentators provide insight, opinion and analysis that adds depth to the broadcast. There is nothing in the job description that says commentators are supposed to make disparaging comments that make them sound sexist.

Richie Adubato, a former NBA head coach who works as a color commentator for the Orlando Magic on WDBO, treaded that line Friday night during a game between the Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers when he vehemently protested a call by referee Violet Palmer. He foolishly suggested she isn't qualified to be an NBA ref, saying Palmer should go back to the WNBA because that's where she belongs. In an attempt to justify his rant, Adubato said Palmer can call that a foul in the WNBA but not the NBA.

Look, I understand that Palmer has a legion of critics and isn't the most popular ref. And even though I didn't see the foul, I don't have a problem with Adubato disagreeing with the call. It's the way that he did, though. He personally attacked her and questioned the credentials of somebody in their 12th season as an NBA ref. If he didn't agree with a call by Dick Bavetta, I seriously doubt Adubato would say the veteran ref needs glasses and should probably be officiating high school games.

Adubato's comment wasn't as degrading as the one by Celtics commentator Cedric Maxwell two years ago in which he said Palmer should go back in the kitchen and cook him breakfast. While his defenders thought it was a joke, Maxwell later apologized.

I'm not accusing Adubato of being a misogynist. He used to coach in the WNBA and might have some history with her. Regardless, he should have demonstrated a little more sensitivity. It's one thing to speak your mind. It's another to spew garbage.
